Shenzhen Polytechnic University (SZPU), formerly Shenzhen Polytechnic, is a public undergraduate school founded in 1993. In June 2023, the Ministry of Education granted SZPU the rights and privileges to issue bachelor degrees in addition to 3-year diplomas. SZPU will continue her mission in educating and molding young bright minds for the betterment of society. Students and faculties at SZPU have been pioneering and forging ahead with hard work while constantly improving the teaching methodologies, school management, and student learning methodologies. SZPU has set records in many metrics for vocational education. In 2019, SZPU was selected as one of the top ten A-level schools under the Construction Program for High-level Higher Vocational Schools and Specialties with Chinese Characteristics launched by the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Finance. SZPU represents the pinnacle of China's vocational education and will stride to be the same as a university.

SZPU's three campuses - Xili Campus, OCT Campus and Shenshan Campus - covers an area of more than 4,500Mu(3 million square meters) withmore than 1.1 million square meters of learning space. SZPU's 88 three-year diploma programs and 6 bachelor programs are set to expand in the future.

SZPU excellence in vocational education has built and maintained five national professional teaching resource libraries. They conduct specialized courses in eight national online Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET). In just the last three academic years, TVET won sixteen national teaching achievement awards and twenty-six provincial first-class teaching achievement awards.Other notable achievements include:

• A special national teaching award in 2018, the first of its kind to win such an award among all education institutions in Guangdong Province.

• One hundred and seven textbooks from SZPUwere selected in the national "13th Five-Year Plan" and "14th Five-Year Plan" for TVET.

SZPU uses a multifaceted, integration of theoretical, practical and cooperative collaboration with corporations, approach in educating future talents. The school has established working relations with Fortune 500 companies and other industry-leading enterprises. Huawei, BYD and 39 other industry leading enterprises have signed cooperation agreements with SZPU and Huawei built its first ICT Academy Support Center (IASC) in SZPU. Due to the success of this multifaceted approach to education, the National Development and Reform Commission dubbed this as the "Shenzhen Experience" and it is to be promoted nationwide.

Innovation and cooperation are two hallmarks of SZPU. The university has undertaken 233 research projects at the provincial, ministerial, and executive levels in the last five years. Of the 244 research projects, 68 research projects stem from the of the National Natural Science Foundation of China. Research funds exceed 700 million yuan, and an average 52 million yuan a year for horizontal technical services and training. With 382 national and PCT patents filed (107 being international, national and local levels) these innovations have contributed to nearly 2000 small and medium sized enterprises using SZPU’s innovation, technologies, expertise and services. SZPU has won 12 scientific research awards, 3 at the national level and 9 at the provincial and ministerial levels. Not only has SZPU been at the forefront of technological innovation, they have also established 27 provincial and ministerial scientific research platforms, 5 academician workstations, 12 applied technology innovation centers, 10 public technology service platforms, and 10 high-end think tanks and creative centers. SZPU has been ranked in the top 200 college/university in the country for two consecutive years.

SZPU global outreach. SZPU has established long-term relationships with 186 institutions in 41 countries and regions. SZPU has built 9 overseas TVET and training centers and 10 international TVET platforms. SZPU has cooperated with the Vocational Training Council of Hong Kong in organizing five joint training programs for talents, and jointly constructed the Special TVET Park in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. In their ongoing effort to establish itself on global academics and innovation, SZPU has pioneered and founded both the "UNESCO Research and Training Center for TVET Programs in Asia and Africa" and the "UNESCO Global Contact Center for TVET." SZPU has a permanent school for the first UNESCO Digitization of Vocational and Technical Education" in China. SZPU is part of the Belt and Road International Conference on TVET, and the Hundred People's Forum on China's Practice of Modern Belt and Road International Conference on TVET. The number of participants in the SZPU’s "Chinese Plus Vocational Skills” training program for overseas has reached more than 200,000, and more than 2,000 participants have attended the training program targeting professionals from "Belt and Road" member countries.
