On July 4, a seminar on promoting the high-quality development of Shenzhen's fashion industry was held in Shenzhen Polytechnic. Leaders and experts from Industry and Information Technology Bureau of Shenzhen Municipality, Shenzhen Furniture Association (SZFA), Shenzhen Gold & Jewelry Association (SZGJA), Shenzhen Garment Industry Association (SGIA), Shenzhen Fashion Creative Industry Association (SFCA), Shenzhen Art & Design Alliance, Tencent CDC (Customer Research & User Experience Design Center), Perfect World Education Technology Co., Ltd., Research and Development Institute of Cultural and Creative Products of Shenzhen Polytechnic and other government departments, industries and enterprises attended the meeting presided over by Vice President Ma Xiaoming.

Yang Xinbin, secretary of the Party Committee and president of Shenzhen Polytechnic, delivered a welcome speech on behalf of the school. He pointed out that Shenzhen is the sixth largest fashion capital in the world, and the fashion industry has become one of the pillar industries in Shenzhen, making outstanding contributions to the economic and social development of the city. He also believed that with the release of theHigh-quality Development Action Plan of Shenzhen Fashion Industry (2020-2024)and the acceleration of the iterative development of the fashion industry, Shenzhen Polytechnic should take active actions to identify the entry points and give play to its advantages in education, scientific research and social services to facilitate the high-quality development of the fashion industry in Shenzhen.

Yin Wei, deputy director ofCompetitive Industry Division, Industry and Information Technology Bureau of Shenzhen Municipality, said that higher vocational education has played an important role in cultivating middle and high-end talent for the fashion industry, carrying out research on fashion science and technology, and developing innovative, entrepreneurial and creative projects. Shenzhen Polytechnic has quickly developed a targeted action plan, which not only further demonstrated the school's ability to grasp the needs of the industry and optimize education and teaching in a timely manner, but also reflected the school's commitment and sense of responsibility for promoting the economic and social development of Shenzhen. This provides the talent support and intellectual guarantee for Shenzhen to build itself into Asia's leading and new world-renowned fashion capital by 2024.

Next, participants had a discussion on "how to promote the high-quality development of Shenzhen's fashion industry". The Planning Office introduced theAction Plan of Shenzhen Polytechnic to Support the High-quality Development of the Fashion Industry (2020-2024)from the following five aspects: background, development goals, main tasks, safeguard measures and expected results; while the leaders and experts at the meeting, based on their industries and fields, respectively analyzed the development and changes of the fashion industry, the effectively building of the platform to achieve win-win results of schools, governments, industries and enterprises, and the action plan of Shenzhen Polytechnic. Furthermore, professional opinions and suggestions were put forward. Chen Yan, General Manager of Tencent CDC, highlighted theWhite Paper on Emerging Design Talents on the Internet in 2019published by Tencent.

Finally, President Yang hoped that the Industry and Information Technology Bureau of Shenzhen Municipality could continue to support the development of the school, and preferential policies could be provided in terms of the joint planning and design of buildings, the establishment of the incubation base of fashion design enterprises, the layout of research and development institutions and platforms, and the construction of online design museum in Shenzhen. Also, he expressed his gratitude to the leaders, experts and representatives attending the seminar for their suggestions on the development of Shenzhen Polytechnic and the issuance of theAction Plan of Shenzhen Polytechnic to Support the High-quality Development of the Fashion Industry (2020-2024), and hoped that through this seminar, the close cooperation with relevant industries and enterprises can be further strengthened to jointly promote the high-quality development of Shenzhen's fashion industry.

In addition, the persons in charge of the School of Communication Engineering, School of Art and Design, School of Digital Creativity and Animation, School of Artificial Intelligence and other secondary schools related to the fashion industry, the Research and Development Institute of Cultural and Creative Products, the Development and Planning Office, the Scientific Research Department, the Academic Research Division and other functional departments also participated in the seminar.
