On August 23-26, the “Construction Engineering Drawing Recognition” Segment of the National Vocational Students Skills Competition (Higher Vocational Group) was held at Jinan Engineering Vocational Technical College in Shandong Province. A total of 58 teams composed of 116 contestants from all provinces, municipalities and autonomous regions participated in the event. Chen Bingzhou and Huang Junlong, two students from the School of Construction Engineering, won the national second prize after two days and 10 hours of fierce competition.

This competition required contestants to independently and cooperatively complete the two modules of construction engineering drawing recognition and construction engineering drawing production within the prescribed time, designed to evaluate the core technical capabilities of students to accurately recognize construction engineering drawings and skillfully use CAD software to produce construction engineering drawings. In the course of this competition, Chen Bingzhou and Huang Junlong responded calmly and showed their solid reserves of professional theoretical knowledge and skilled technical software application ability.

During the preparation period, the students made full use of their spare time, weekends and holidays for nearly one year of intensive training, and practiced numerous times, fully demonstrating the spirit of not being afraid of hardship and fatigue advocated by all students from the School of Construction Engineering. The good performance in the National Competition is inseparable from the working atmosphere of overall collaboration and mutual help at the school. The school leaders and relevant departments attached great importance and held meetings to discuss and deploy the work. In particular, the two teachers Chen Shaoming and Lu Hu, who contributed silently to this competition, did their best to provide guidance and service for the students to prepare for and participate in the competition.

The School of Construction Engineering will continue to take the integration of industry and education as the development goal, work for the fundamental task of building morality and cultivating talents, play the role of “promoting education through competition, promoting learning through competition, promoting construction through competition, and promoting reform through competition”, cultivate high-quality composite and innovative technical talents, and contribute to the sound development of education at SZPT.
