On August 29-31, the “Integrated Circuit Development and Application” segment of the 2022 National VocationalStudents Skills Competition (Higher Vocational Group) was held at BinZhou Polytechnic in Shandong Province. Our team led by Yu Fei, Vice Dean of the School of Integrated Circuits, and composed of the instructors Yang Li and Zeng Qiming, and the contestants Xiao Zhiqiang, Zeng Sihao and Du Kaixiang, participated in the event and competed with 150 contestants of 50 teams from all over the country. After two days of fierce competition, the team won the first prize with the first place and the national championship, which is a historic breakthrough of SZPT in this competition.

The good performance in this competition is a result from joint efforts in multiple respects, including the great importance attached by the college, the cooperation of the Office of Academic Affairs and other departments, the support of the college and professional teachers, and the intensive training of the team, fully demonstrating the good mental outlook and technical skills of our IC students. The epidemic brought huge challenges to the preparation work. To ensure the qualification for participating in this competition and the effect of the preparation work, the team arrived at the competition site 10 days in advance, sent equipment to the hotel, overcame all kinds of difficulties, practiced according to the plan, and finally won the first place, which is the highest recognition of the hard work of the team.

This competition, sponsored by 36 organizations, including the Ministry of Education and the National Development and Reform Commission, kept pace with the latest development trend in the field of integrated circuit technology, and focused on the actual demand for talents of the integrated circuit design and manufacturing industry, is designed to examine the comprehensive technical skills of students in terms of integrated circuit technology, integrated circuit design, integrated circuit testing, integrated circuit sorting, etc.

Since its establishment in 2021, the major of integrated circuit technology has been committed to the training of talents for the whole industrial chain of integrated circuit design, such as manufacturing and closed testing. Our teachers and students have won 2 national first prizes, 6 national second prizes and 12 provincial first prizes in the National Vocational Students Skills Competition, the National Electronic Design Competition for College Students and other competitions. In addition, we keep up with the industrial development trend and new technology, independently develop “Lihu” series chips and Jinguang SPICE simulation tools, and strive to promote the independence of integrated circuit technology.
