On October 29, led by Party Secretary Yang Xinbin, a group of 35 students from SZPU’s School of Automotive, School of Civil Engineering, and School of Telecommunications visited the west artificial island of the Shenzhen-Zhongshan Link, gaining an up-close view of this extraordinary national infrastructure project as part of an "On-the-Go Ideological and Political Education" session.
The west artificial island serves as the critical bridge-tunnel interchange for the Shenzhen-Zhongshan Link, appearing from above like a majestic kunpeng kite soaring over the sea. On the island, students received an overview of the project from He, a manager at the Link's management center, who explained the overall construction, the steel-shell immersed tunnel structure, and the design of the main buildings on the island. In the exhibition hall, students learned about the development of cross-river (and cross-sea) channels in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, watched an immersive promotional film on the Shenzhen-Zhongshan Link, and explored the intricate construction details of this engineering marvel.

After the tour, the students returned to campus via the Shenzhen-Zhongshan Link. In class, Secretary Yang Xinbin invited students to share their reflections on this practical learning experience. Many expressed awes at the scale, technological advancement, and challenges of constructing such a project, noting how the experience had given them a deeper sense of purpose in studying transportation, construction, and telecommunications. They voiced a commitment to mastering their fields and aspiring to participate in and witness future large-scale projects like the Shenzhen-Zhongshan Link.
Yang Xinbin praised the students’ enthusiasm and determination. He remarked that the Shenzhen-Zhongshan Link has become a "new landmark" as China transitions from a major transportation hub to a global infrastructure leader. He also highlighted the achievements China has made since the reform era, such as food security, clean water, energy sufficiency, efficient transportation, and environmental improvements, all reflecting the country’s commitment to a "people-first" approach led by the Party and the state. Yang encouraged students to stay focused on their goals, excel in their fields, build a solid foundation, and gain practical experience, all while fostering good habits and a spirit of perseverance. "Each generation has its mission," he said, "and I believe that SZPU students will leave their mark on the grand vision of building a strong nation."
SZPU has actively incorporated Shenzhen's historical and industrial resources into its ideological and political education curriculum. Leaders and faculty members have taken students to various “Shenzhen Miracle” sites, including landmark locations of reform and opening up, such as Lianhua Mountain and Qianhai Stone Park, and leading companies like Tencent, Huawei, and DJI, creating vibrant “on-the-go” ideological education sessions. Since the beginning of the year, SZPU’s 18 secondary schools have conducted 118 such sessions, reaching nearly 5,000 students through immersive, case-based, and interactive teaching methods that enhance the appeal and practicality of ideological and political education.
