On December 27, the Ministry of Education held the 2024 National Education Digitalization Work Summary Conference. The conference focused on deeply studying and implementing the spirit of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, the third plenary session of the 20th Central Committee, and the spirit of the National Education Conference. It summarized the results and experiences of the implementation of the national education digitalization strategic actions over the past three years and planned the key measures for the next three years of educational digitalization. Huai Jinpeng, Secretary of the Party Leadership Group and Minister of the Ministry of Education, attended the meeting and delivered a speech.

In his speech, Huai Jinpeng emphasized that since the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, the central leadership, with Xi Jinping at its core, has regarded educational digitalization as an essential part of the construction of Digital China and the Education Powerhouse. A series of new ideas and judgments have been put forward, along with significant strategic deployments, urging the education system to thoroughly study and understand Xi Jinping’s important speeches, comprehend the strategic significance of accelerating educational digitalization, and strengthen the sense of responsibility and mission in advancing this work. He highlighted the importance of focusing on system construction, implementation, application development, forward-looking layout, and external openness. This will fully mobilize the innovation of localities and schools, ensuring that "effective use is the key," and enhancing international influence.

At the conference, Wu Yan, Vice Minister and a member of the Party Leadership Group of the Ministry of Education, presented certificates to the representatives of the 2024 National High-Quality Digital Resource Providers and individuals. Our university was recognized as a 2024 High-Quality Digital Resource Provider, and only four vocational colleges nationwide received this honor. Xu Jianling, Deputy Party Secretary and President of our university, accepted the certificate on behalf of the school.

Our university attaches great importance to digital transformation and the construction of high-quality digital resources. It has strengthened the layout, development, application, and promotion of digital resources. The university has successfully built five national professional teaching resource databases, including Electronic Information Engineering Technology, Modern Communication Technology, and Film and Animation, which consist of 332 courses, 8,257 micro-courses, and over 130,000 resources, with nearly 830,000 learners. This makes our university the vocational institution with the most national-level resource databases in the country. In the Ministry of Education’s selection of national quality online courses, the university has been selected for 20 courses, with 12 selected in 2024 alone, leading the nation in this area.

In recent years, our university has adopted multiple measures to advance its digital transformation. It has developed documents such as the "Artificial Intelligence Action Plan," "Digital Transformation Action Plan," "Digital Benchmark School Construction Plan," and "Information Development Plan" to promote digital transformation in a comprehensive manner. It has also established mechanisms to continuously improve teaching resource standards, management and service mechanisms, quality control mechanisms, and incentive systems to efficiently carry out resource co-construction and sharing. The university has developed and built the integrated Shenzhen Polytechnic iLearning platform and has collaborated with external authoritative course platforms such as MOOC, Smart Vocational Education, and XuetangX to promote the application of its quality courses and resources. The university has also focused on the development of high-quality, sustainable course resources by constructing "golden courses." Since 2021, it has developed 817 school-level "golden courses," 47 virtual simulation courses, and 153 first-class courses. Additionally, 110 vocational education national planning textbooks have been selected, and 57 digital textbooks have been developed. The university has also partnered with enterprises to build 13 overseas "Shenzhen Digital Workshops" and led the formulation and promotion of the "Shenzhen Agreement." The university has hosted five sessions of the "Belt and Road" International Vocational Education Seminar and founded China’s first international journal in English on vocational education. In 2023, the university was approved for a UNESCO "Vocational Technical Education Digital Chair," marking its leadership in international vocational education digitalization.

This award of the National High-Quality Digital Resource Provider status will serve as an opportunity for our university to leverage the international platform of the Digital Chair. We will actively adapt to the new demands of the digital economy’s technologies, industries, and business models, seize the significant opportunities of digital and intelligent development, and strive to lead the digital transformation of vocational education and provide high-quality digital resources. Our efforts will contribute wisdom and strength to the innovative development of global vocational education.
