Our university establishes the "China-ASEAN Vocational Education Digital Capacity Building Center" in Malaysia

Date: Jul 8, 2025

Recently, the "China-ASEAN Vocational Education Digital Capacity Building Center" (hereinafter referred to as the "Center"), led and developed by our university, was officially inaugurated in Malaysia. The Center is a platform for vocational education digital capacity building targeted at vocational colleges and applied technology universities in ASEAN countries, leveraging our university's UNESCO Chair in Digital Vocational and Technical Education, aiming to establish a digital vocational education cooperation network based in ASEAN and radiating globally.

The Center will focus on emerging digital technology industries in ASEAN, such as information and communications technology (ICT) and manufacturing, as well as key industries undergoing digital transformation. Drawing on our university's UNESCO Chair research capabilities, international organization networks like UNESCO, and support from corporate partners such as Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd., the Center will develop and share various knowledge products for vocational education digital transformation, including vocational college guidance manuals, digital technology professional and curriculum standards, and teacher training resource packages. It will conduct digital capacity building for vocational education teachers through diverse formats like online and offline methods, forming a digital vocational education cooperation network covering ASEAN countries and radiating across Asia, promoting interoperability of vocational education standards, resource sharing, and joint talent cultivation in the region, thereby leading to improvements in the level and quality of vocational education digital transformation in Asia and helping to bridge the global digital divide and achieve sustainable socioeconomic development.

Our university dispatched a delegation led by Yang Congkun, Executive Deputy Director of the Asia-Africa Center, who participated in conferences, conducted training sessions, and engaged in exchange visits to facilitate the Center's official launch and operation at Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia. On May 28, the delegation attended the Global Vocational Education Digital Transformation Summit and the "Vocational Education Innovation and Learning Integration" conference, co-hosted by the UNESCO International Centre for Technical and Vocational Education and Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia in Malaysia. At the conference, our university and Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia formally exchanged agreements for the joint establishment of the "China-ASEAN Vocational Education Digital Capacity Building Center," marking the Center's official establishment.
