On July 23, the third vocational skills training class for pairing assistance to Heping County kicked off in Heping County Vocational and Technical School after meticulous preparation by the School of Continuing Education and Training, the resident work team in Xiajian Village, the Industrial Center, and the School of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, aiming to thoroughly implement the spirit of General Secretary Xi Jinping's speech at a symposium on securing a decisive victory in poverty alleviation, eliminate the adverse impact of COVID-19, actively give play to the advantages of vocational skills training, and ensure the successful completion of poverty alleviation in Shenzhen Polytechnic. Yang Xinbin, secretary of the Party Committee and president of Shenzhen Polytechnic, Wang Hui, deputy secretary of the Party Committee and secretary of Committee for Discipline Inspection of Shenzhen Polytechnic, Chen Zhibin, deputy secretary of the Heping County Party Committee, He Donghui, a member of the Standing Committee of the Heping County Party Committee and leader of the resident work team of Futian District in Heping County, Huang Zhining, general Party branch secretary and president of Heping County Vocational and Technical School, members of the Party Committee, middle-level officials, and teachers of Shenzhen Polytechnic, and all trainees attended the opening ceremony. The opening ceremony was chaired by Wang Hui.

Liu Xingyu, the leader of the resident work team in Xiajian Village, first reported the preparation work of the training class. With meticulous research and preparation by the School of Continuing Education and Training, the resident work team in Xiajian Village, the industrial center, and the School of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, two training courses respectively designed for electrician certificates and intermediate miller certificates were finally set up to improve targeted skill training and guarantee the training results. Then Huang Jinyong, a villager of Xiajian Village, made a speech on behalf of all trainees, saying that he really appreciated this opportunity and would study hard to live up to the expectations of school leaders, teachers, and villagers. Whereafter, Li Kai, director of the Pairing Assistance Office and dean of the School of Continuing Education and Training, accepted the plaque from the resident work team of Futian District in Heping County on behalf of the school.

Chen Zhibin expressed his heartfelt thanks to Shenzhen Polytechnic's assistance and put forward several requirements. First, it is hoped that the concerning departments of the county and the Heping County Vocational and Technical School would strictly implement the epidemic containment work, strengthen communication, and effectively organize the training and guarantee services, so as to create a relaxing and harmonious learning environment for students. Second, it is hoped that all trainees would value the opportunity, strictly observe learning disciplines, and maintain the right attitude to truly learn skills and knowledge from this training. Third, it is hoped that Shenzhen Polytechnic will constantly support the development of poverty alleviation in Heping County and make use of the training class to carry out vocational skill training and help poor households acquire means of making a living, thus further consolidating the achievements in poverty alleviation.

Finally, Yang Xinbin delivered a mobilization speech, in which he first introduced the basic situation that Shenzhen Polytechnic provided pairing assistance to Xiajian Village in Heping County over the past five years. During this period, there were two vocational skill training classes, with 50 trainees in total who have become more competitive and sought-after in enterprises. In view of the good results of the previous two training classes, the third one is now being carried out. The scope of trainees has also increased from a poor village in Xiajian Village, Lishi Town, to 42 poor villages in Heping County. Also, he raised three hopes for all trainees: First, he hoped that the students would study diligently and be creative, and master the true skills of getting rid of poverty and getting rich, so as to break the intergenerational cycle of poverty and realize their own sustainable growth. Second, he hoped that the trainees would be dedicated and play the role of lifeblood in the great cause of targeted poverty alleviation, and change the destiny of themselves and their hometown with newly-learned knowledge and skills. Third, he hoped that the trainees would pay attention to their own safety and strictly observe training disciplines. Due to the ongoing COVID-19, trainees were required to strictly abide by the epidemic prevention and control requirements and training disciplines to learn skills safely and obtain certificates smoothly.

It is introduced that the number of trainees, the amount of training funds, and the number of training jobs in this session are higher than that of the previous two sessions. To implement the guiding ideology of the school Party Committee to give full play to the advantages of vocational education, carry out skills training, and improve the employment skills of the poor, in June, the School of Continuing Education and Training took the initiative to contact the resident work team in Xiajian Village and proposed continuing to provide vocational skills training for the poor in Heping County. After the preliminary needs survey by the resident work team in Xiajian Village and the on-site inspections by the School of Continuing Education and Training, the resident work team in Xiajian Village, the industrial center, and the expert team of the School of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, it was finally determined that two training courses for electrician operation certificates and intermediate miller certificates were tailored in cooperation with Heping County Vocational and Technical School. The training class was very popular, attracting more than 150 people to sign up, and finally, 70 trainees passed the selection examination and were admitted. This session of training lasted for 24 days. The early training was carried out in Heping County Vocational and Technical School, and the later comprehensive training and examination were completed in Shenzhen. Special examinations were applied for the trainees. In order to eliminate the risk of the epidemic, closed-off management was implemented throughout the training process, and the innovative teaching mode of on-site teaching + cloud classroom was adopted.
