Vice President Li Yue introduced SZPT’s exploration and practice of international exchanges and cooperation at the symposium

On May 5, the Symposium on International Cooperation of Colleges and Universities in Shenzhen, titled “Jointly Discussing the Internationalization of Higher Education and Promoting the Development of Shenzhen as an International and Innovative City”, was held in Southern University of Science and Technology. Li Yue, Vice President of SZPT, was invited to attend the symposium, and introduced our exploration and practice of international exchanges and cooperation at the symposium.

Li Yue introduced SZPT’s thoughts and achievements of international cooperation from four aspects: “inviting in, going out, actively participating in the world’s vocational education affairs, and closely combining with national strategies to serve economic development”. In May 2022, SZPT was approved to set up a UNESCO Chair on Digitalization in TVET, and introduced the settlement of the WFCP Teacher Development Committee. We have developed 23 professional curriculum standards, which are recognized and adopted by 15 countries and regions, and has built 9 vocational education and training centers in 7 countries. She suggested that the international cooperation for development of colleges and universities should pay attention to the “three innovations (mode innovation, mechanism innovation and path innovation)” and “three adherences (adherence to type education orientation positioning, adherence to regional school characteristics and adherence to problem-oriented orientation)”, as well as the construction of mechanisms, systems, teachers and connotations.

The symposium was sponsored by the International Centre for Higher Education Innovation under the Auspices of UNESCO and the Southern University of Science and Technology, under the guidance of the Shenzhen Municipal Education Bureau and the Foreign Affairs Office of Shenzhen Municipal People’s Government. Representatives of Shenzhen Municipal Finance Bureau, representatives of Shenzhen Municipal Audit Bureau, and leaders in charge and heads of international cooperation departments from 13 colleges and universities in Shenzhen, including Southern University of Science and Technology, Shenzhen University, Shenzhen Technology University, Chinese University of Hong Kong (Shenzhen), Shenzhen Polytechnic, Shenzhen Institute of Information Technology, Shenzhen International Graduate School of Tsinghua University, Shenzhen Graduate School of Peking University, etc., attended the symposium. The theme of the symposium focused on the internationalization of Shenzhen’s higher education, and discussed how to deepen cooperation through the international organization platform of the International Centre for Higher Education Innovation under the Auspices of UNESCO, and jointly contribute to the development of Shenzhen as an international and innovative city.
