The signing ceremony was held in Conference Room 101, Mingde Building, Liuxiandong Campus

On October 7, the signing ceremony for cooperation between SZPU and Tsinghua University was held in Conference Room 101, Mingde Building, Liuxiandong Campus. Relying on the jointly built SZPU Positive Psychology Research Center, the two universities will carry out in-depth cooperation in mental health education to further promote the development and application of positive psychology in China. The persons who attended the ceremony included: Zhong Zirong, Director of Career and Lifelong Education Department, Shenzhen Municipal Education Bureau; the team of Professor Peng Kaiping, Dean of School of Social Sciences, Tsinghua University; and Dong Chaojun, Vice President of SZPU.

According to the agreement, in the future, the two universities will further deepen cooperation in teams, happiness technology products, SZPU joining the “World University Happiness Education and Science Alliance”, co-founding an English journal, jointly carrying out teacher training on positive mental health, and other related aspects, leading vocational colleges across the country to explore more widely the application fields of positive psychology.

Dong Chaojun said in his speech that in recent years, the university has been exploring and researching to promote the “SZPU Happiness Course”, and has established a positive psychology center in cooperation with Tsinghua University, and completed the development of curriculum and psychological textbooks. In July this year, as a representative of the national higher vocational colleges, SZPU was invited to attend the National Congress on Positive Psychology and the World Congress on Positive Psychology, and shared its relevant experiences. It is hoped that through this signing, the cooperation between the two universities can be taken to a new level to jointly explore the application and promotion of positive psychology.

Peng Kaiping said in his speech that Tsinghua University and SZPU have a deep foundation for cooperation. First, they share similar aspirations. Mental health is a global issue, and it is necessary to create a “Chinese solution” for the world mental health education with Chinese wisdom. Second, they share same hearts, hoping to use positive psychology to take a new road of happy experience, replace negative experience with positive experience, and explore some effective methods in college students’ mental health education. Third, they share emotional connections. The two universities have a long history of cooperation, with mutual trust and support.

According to reports, since 2016, with the core of cultivating teachers and students’ ability to create a happy life, our university has begun to explore the establishment of a “happiness +” education and teaching system, and carry forward the happiness campus culture. After exploration, we have offered a series of Happiness + courses such as “Happiness Course”, trained more than 200 certified lecturers for 200 Happiness + courses, and built “Happiness +” bases such as Happiness Experience Hall, Happiness Garden, and Happiness Academy. The Happiness Experience Hall is currently applying for the qualification as a social science popularization base and a comprehensive quality training base for students in Guangdong Province.

In 2022, SZPU and Tsinghua University jointly built the first positive psychology research center in higher vocational colleges in China, which is dedicated to exploration and has made remarkable achievements in team building, scientific research, social service, positive education, teacher training and other aspects. Over the past year, Professor Peng Kaiping led a team from the Positive Psychology Research Center of Tsinghua University to provide all-round guidance and training for the construction of SZPU Positive Psychology Research Cente. Last year, SZPU sent five psychology counselors to the Positive Psychology Research Center of Tsinghua University to study for one month and improve their professional level. The teachers of Tsinghua University also set up six elective courses at SZPU, including “Love Psychology”, “Positive Psychology Education” and “Frontiers of Applied Positive Psychology”, which are welcomed and favored by students.
