Date: Jun 10, 2025

On May 24, the Huawei ICT Competition 2024–2025 Global Final concluded successfully in Shenzhen. The team from the School of Electronic and Communication Engineering at Shenzhen Polytechnic University (SZPU) achieved remarkable results, winning one Grand Prize and two First Prizes globally. This outstanding performance showcases SZPU’s strong capabilities in ICT talent cultivation.

In the highly competitive Programming Competition—HarmonyOS Track, students Tang Ju, Chen Xinjie, and Chen Lejia—mentored by faculty member Li Yingying from the Mobile Internet Application Technology program—secured the Grand Prize with their innovative programming solutions and outstanding performance on-site. Additionally, in the Practice Competition—Cloud Track, students He Guangyuan, Liu Jiale, and Chen Songyuan—supervised by instructor Wang Xianchen—won a First Prize, while students Zhang Qingtao, Ye Lang, and Fang Junhong from the Computer Network Technology program—guided by instructor Liang Guangmin—also claimed a First Prize in the Practice Competition—Basic Software Track. Faculty members Wu Lichun and Wang Kang were awarded the title of Most Valuable Instructor (MVI) in recognition of their exceptional mentorship. The competition also featured participants from prestigious institutions such as the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences and Shanghai Jiao Tong University.

In recent years, the School of Electronic and Communication Engineering has leveraged the Huawei ICT Academy and the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology’s HarmonyOS Specialty Industry Academy to deepen industry-education integration. Through strategic collaboration with leading enterprises like Huawei, the school has built an innovative “specialization-contest integration” talent training model. With co-developed curricula and joint programs, the school offers students abundant hands-on opportunities. Particularly in HarmonyOS talent development, SZPU has established a comprehensive course system and training environment. The team’s breakthrough in the newly added HarmonyOS track this year stands as a testament to the effectiveness of the school’s teaching reforms.

As one of the most influential international competitions in the ICT field, this year’s Huawei ICT Competition reached a record scale, attracting over 210,000 students and faculty members from 2,000+ universities across more than 100 countries and regions. After progressing through national and regional levels, 179 teams from 48 countries and regions advanced to the global final.
