Recently, the Chinese Association for Science and Technology (CAST) announced the list of the sixth "Young Talents Support Project" (2020-2022), with a total of 400 candidates. Among them, 279 young scholars from 109 universities are to be funded. Associate Professor Wang Hao of Hoffmann Institute of Advanced Materials (HIAM), Shenzhen Polytechnic (Nobel Prize Team) was shortlisted. Among the 400 people selected nationwide, he is the only one from a vocational college. This is also the first time that Shenzhen Polytechnic has been funded by the project.

It is reported that the "Young Talents Support Project" is a state-level talent support project launched by CAST in 2015. It aims to explore and innovate the mechanisms for the selection and training of young scientific and technological talents, thus helping them deliver an outstanding work performance in creativity. It will also help them grow into academic and technical leaders in the relevant fields of science and technology, and become an important reserve force for high-level leading talents and high-level innovation teams in major scientific and technological fields in China. The "Young Talents Support Project" mainly supports science and technology personnel under the age of 32 with strong innovation ability and growth potential and gives each selected candidate support for three consecutive years, with RMB 150,000 per year.

Born in January 1990, Wang Hao, Ph.D., is an associate professor of HIAM in Shenzhen Polytechnic. He was awarded the Award for Outstanding Self-Financed Students Abroad by the China Scholarship Council. He was an overseas high-level talent (Category B) of Shenzhen and was among the first group of youth funded by the Excellent Young Scientists Fund of Shenzhen. Dr. Wang Hao joined Shenzhen Polytechnic in 2018 and was a key member of the Nobel Prize Team that helped establish the HIAM. His main research interests are the development of new nanoporous materials and their application in the field of green energy-saving adsorption and separation. To date, he has published more than 70 academic papers in international mainstream journals indexed in SCI with over 2,000 citations. As the project leader, he has undertaken 7 research projects, including the National Natural Science Foundation of China — Youth Science Fund, Natural Science Foundation of Guangdong Province, and Shenzhen Excellent Young Scientists Fund.
