On May 27-28, the “Ship Navigation Safety Management Technology” segment of 2022-2023 Vocational College Students Skills Competition of Guangdong Province, sponsored by the Department of Education of Guangdong Province and organized by Guangdong Communication Polytechnic, was held in Guangzhou. After fierce competition, our team composed of Wang Yipeng, Yu Xiaotong, Lize Jiangyue and Luo Xiangxin majoring in port and navigation (2021) at the School of Management won the first prize, and the second place in the province, and advanced to the national competition.

This competition focused on testing the students’ comprehensive vocational skills, teamwork ability and navigation professionalism in cargo stowage plan preparation, navigation book management, navigation route drawing, navigation risk assessment, guiding the ship to sail safely, maintaining regular lookout, avoiding ship collision, and handling unexpected navigation incidents, in order to test and display the teaching reform results of water transportation related majors in higher vocational colleges and the general skills and vocational abilities of students, leading and promoting the teaching reform of related majors in colleges and universities.
