On August 16-20, the “Food Safety and Quality Inspection” Segment of 2023 National Vocational College Skills Competition (Higher Vocational Group) was held at Guizhou Vocational College of Agriculture. 60 teams from 31 vocational colleges across the country competed on the same stage. After fierce competition, Ni Xiaoqing and Jin Xiaoying, the students under the guidance of teachers Li Xiaoting, Li Bin and Shen Li fromtheSchool of Food and Drug, won the first prize (team) by virtue of their solid professional knowledge and skills, calm attitude and teamwork spirit.

The competition set three modules, i.e. food safety expertise test, physical and chemical analysis, and microbial inspection. Among them, the food safety expertise test lasted for 60 minutes, assessing the food safety quality control, compliance management, laws and regulations, instrument analysis and other theoretical knowledge; the food physical and chemical analysis lasted for 270 minutes, mainly assessing the contestants’ operation ability in three aspects: sample pretreatment, data analysis, and liquid chromatography operation; the microbial test lasted for 180 minutes, mainly assessing the contestants’ ability to determine the aerobic bacterial count and report the results, Gram staining and microscope operation, and pathogen detection ability.
