Recently, theNotice of the General Office of the Ministry of Education and the General Office of the Ministry of Finance on the Announcement of the Performance Evaluation Results of the High-Level Higher Vocational Schools and Programs with Chinese Characteristics Construction Plan (2019–2023) (Jiaozhichengtinghan [2024] No. 24) was released. In this notice, Shenzhen Polytechnic University (SZPU) was awarded an “Excellent” rating for the first phase of the “Double High Plan” (National Plan for High-Level Vocational Education), marking the successful completion of this phase!
Since SZPU was selected as one of the 10 A-level “Double High Plan” construction units nationwide in 2019, the university has placed great emphasis on the initiative. The university’s leadership has adhered to the principle of Party leadership, aligning the “Double High Plan” tasks with other major projects such as “World-Class” initiatives and “Ministry-Province Co-Construction”. This integrated approach has led to outstanding achievements, including the designation of SZPU as a “National Model University for Party Building”, national-level promotion of its industry-education integration practices by the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC), notable accomplishments in technological innovation and social services, and its leadership in the digital transformation of global vocational education. SZPU has remained at the top of vocational school rankings for consecutive years, marking a new breakthrough in the university’s educational quality and overall strength. In June 2023, SZPU was approved to establish Shenzhen Polytechnic University as a bachelor’s-level institution, based on its strong foundation as a “Double High” institution, becoming the first vocational school to offer a bachelor’s degree under the Standards for the Establishment of Bachelor’s-Level Vocational Schools (Trial).
To ensure the success of this performance evaluation, SZPU made early preparations, carefully planned, and objectively summarized the results of the construction efforts. During the on-site evaluation in Guangdong Province, SZPU led the province with an advantage of 1.46 points over the second-place school, securing the top spot. In the final review by the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Finance, the university passed with the highest rating of “Excellent”.
At this new starting point, SZPU will focus on connotative development, continue to deepen educational and teaching reforms, enhance its educational capacity and industry-education integration, and further strengthen its social service capabilities. The university is committed to making greater contributions to the development of the Shenzhen “Dual Zone” initiative, building a stronger education system in China, and supporting Chinese-style modernization.
