Recently, the Ministry of Education announced the results of the 2024 “Honoring Excellent Traditional Chinese Culture” Publicity and Education Initiative for higher education institutions. This year’s initiative featured three key categories: the “Inheritance of Cultural Legacy” Thematic Digital Micro-Exhibition, the “Soul-Enriching Cultural Education” Innovative Work Cases, and the “Craftsmanship Excellence” Intangible Cultural Heritage Video Micro-Lessons. After a rigorous selection process, 251 outstanding projects were recognized, including SZPU’s entry — “Craftsmanship & Innovation: A Digital and Intelligent Interpretation of Tiangong Kaiwu’s Intangible Cultural Heritage”. With this achievement, SZPU has had projects selected for this honor for two consecutive years.
Video Micro-Lesson.
This video micro-lesson was a collaborative creation by faculty and students from the Tiangong Kaiwu Cultural and Creative Society, which was founded in 2014 by Xu Rui from School of Digital Media. The project explores the digital revival of Tiangong Kaiwu, a classic Chinese text on craftsmanship and technology, integrating modern digital intelligence to showcase the ingenuity embedded in Chinese wisdom, spirit, and values. Through cutting-edge digital projects, the team brings China’s rich traditional culture to life, making it more accessible and engaging for a broader audience.
This initiative, organized by the Department of Moral Education of the Ministry of Education, was held under the theme “Continuing the Cultural Legacy, Strengthening Faith, and Writing a New Chapter of Youth”. The selected works will be showcased on major national platforms, including CCTV.com, Xinhua News, and China Education Release, further promoting the heritage and innovation of Chinese traditional culture.
