On July 3, the finals of the 2025 Guangdong Provincial College Ideological and Political Theory Teaching Skills Competition, organized by the Department of Education of Guangdong Province, concluded in Guangzhou. Ye Ge, a young teacher from our School of Marxism, stood out in the fierce competition and won first prize.
The final consisted of two parts: a lecture and a defense, lasting a total of 35 minutes. Each contestant drew lots for the order one day in advance and selected chapters two hours before the contest. In the final round, one first-prize winner and two second-prize winners were selected in each subject. Ye Ge competed alongside 18 teachers from 14 universities, including Sun Yat-sen University, South China University of Technology, and Guangdong Polytechnic Normal University, and delivered an outstanding performance.
The School of Marxism attached great importance to this competition, regarding it as an opportunity to promote undergraduate teaching evaluation reform and improve overall teacher quality. Since November 2024, the School has carried out extensive preparations through internal selection, training, and expert lectures. Teaching and research groups also set up lesson-preparation teams, holding multiple rounds of discussions on teaching concepts, key points, and methods.
With high standards and strict requirements, this competition aimed to test and improve the teaching ability and professional competence of ideological and political theory teachers in Guangdong’s universities, driving high-quality development of the discipline. More than 100 universities across the province participated. After more than three months of preliminary rounds and semi-finals, 30 teachers advanced to the provincial finals.
