SZPU Students Win Multiple Awards at the 2026 National College Students Robotics Competition ROBOCON

Date: Aug 14, 2026

The 25th National College Students Robotics Competition ROBOCON concluded successfully recently at the Jiangyin Campus of Nanjing University of Science and Technology. Shenzhen Polytechnic University (SZPU) won two National First Prizes and three National Second Prizes, with its total project score ranking 15th nationwide. Competing against teams from numerous Project 985 and Project 211 universities as well as leading higher education institutions across China, the SZPU team demonstrated strong overall competitiveness, showcasing the comprehensive capabilities of SZPU students in robotics and artificial intelligence.

The SZPU Team 1 comprised students including Hao Qingbai, Li Haohong, Liu Qingchun, Long Jianxing, Wang Yuehuan, He Zhixiang, Yang Jingpeng, Qiu Jiayue, Qiu Jiahui, Han Jiong, Chen Zitong, and Tan Weifu, from the School of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, School of Artificial Intelligence, and School of Electronic and Communication Engineering. Drawing on their solid technical expertise and outstanding performance on site, the team won two National First Prizes and three National Second Prizes in the main event, “Exploring the World of Wulin (Martial Arts),” and several skills challenges, placing 15th nationwide in total project points.

The National College Students Robotics Competition ROBOCON is one of China’s most technically challenging and influential university robotics competitions. The team was coached by faculty members from the Institute of Intelligent Science and Engineering. During the preparation period, the team carried out collaborative research and development across schools and disciplines, focusing on key areas including overall robot system design, mechanical structure optimization, intelligent perception algorithms, and system integration. From design validation to prototype development, and from code debugging to full-system integration and testing, the students repeatedly refined their designs and meticulously improved every detail. Through intensive engineering practice, they overcame a series of technical challenges and ultimately completed all competition tasks with a rigorous engineering approach and well-developed practical skills.

The awards provide a strong demonstration of the effectiveness of SZPU’s talent development in robotics. In recent years, the University has continued to deepen teaching reform while strengthening the development of students’ practical capabilities and innovative thinking. The results not only demonstrate the strong professional competence and teamwork of SZPU students, but will also further facilitate the integration of competition experience and achievements into classroom teaching, contributing to continuous improvement in the quality of talent development.
