In the afternoon of May 13, 2023, Vocational and Professional Education Services (Shenzhen) Company Limited, the Mainland operation center of the Vocational Training Council (VTC) located at the Special Vocational Education Park of Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, successfully organized the “Hong Kong Study Talk” afternoon tea activity. In the early summer of May, nearly 70 students, teachers and parents attended the event. Meanwhile, hundreds of viewers watched the live broadcast online. The atmosphere was warm.

“Why Hong Kong? Why VTC?” was the main theme of this information session, in which several experienced teachers from VTC guided the audience to a comprehensive understanding of VTC’s organizational structure, affiliated schools, courses, and application process.

The event kicked off with Wong Hing, Deputy Director of the Mainland and International Affairs Office of VTC, sharing the experience of Mainland students studying and living in The Technological and Higher Education Institute of Hong Kong (THEi), which quickly gave students and their parents a sense of how a quality learning environment, a seamless cultural environment and an international perspective can lay a solid foundation for students’ future careers. The following short videos described how VTC helps young people achieve career development through skills training from different professional perspectives, and allowed parents and students to know more about how VTC and students can realize mutual achievements.

Then, Yu Zhongran, a lecturer at the School of Environment and Design of THEi, used a variety of videos and contents to demonstrate that VTC provides students with a good learning experience in terms of hardware, software and course design, and also introduced in detail the curriculum features of THEi, and the student exchanges, internships and achievements.

Zhong Zhibin, Head of Department of Business, Hong Kong Institute of Vocational Education (Haking Wong) and (Tuen Mun), introduced the curriculum features of business subjects to the audience, focusing on themajor setup, teaching facilities, cooperation with well-known enterprises such as Alibaba, and diversified student internships and exchanges.

Finally, Chen Jiyi, Manager of Mainland and International Affairs Office of VTC, explained to students and their parents the advantages of choosing VTC courses, including the recognition of qualifications by international organizations and associations, the offer of overseas exchange and internship opportunities, etc. In addition, she explained in detail the relevant procedures and important timelines for applying for courses. When it came to the free question session, parents and students were eager to ask questions on various aspects introduced earlier, demonstrating their keen interest in VTC and their willingness to study there.

After the Q&A, many students and parents continued to visit the Special Vocational Education Park of Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area in the venue to further refresh their understanding of vocational skills and their future life planning.

It was VTC’s first recruitment promotion event in the Mainland, which was recognized by all those present. The VTC team was very grateful, and looked forward to seeing the audience at the next event.
