On the afternoon of May 8th, a delegation of 16 members including H.E. Laov Him, Secretary of State from the Cambodian Ministry of Labor and Vocational Training; Dr. Beny Bandanadjaja, Director of Vocational Higher Education Academic Affairs from the Indonesian Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology; Muhammad Amir Syarifuddin, Director of Standards, Capacities and Vocational Training Projects from the Indonesian Ministry of Manpower; and Duan Xiaofei, General Manager of CIIC International Education Technology (Beijing) Co., Ltd., visited Shenzhen Polytechnic University (SZPU). The delegation held a discussion with Yang Xinbin, Party Secretary of SZPU, which was chaired by Vice President Li Yue.
The discussion took place in Room 109 of the Mingde Building.
Yang Xinbin introduced the development history and current status of SZPU, its international exchanges and cooperation, the integration of industry and education, and the development of specialized industry schools, as well as the path to achieving high-quality future development. He mentioned that in recent years, China has had close exchanges with Southeast Asian countries such as Cambodia and Indonesia in the field of vocational education, with broad prospects for cooperation. SZPU has actively implemented the “Belt and Road” initiative, engaging in various effective forms of cooperation with the two countries in areas such as faculty and student exchanges, sharing educational resources, joint research, and cultural and language exchanges, effectively promoting the advancement of higher and vocational education and better serving the socioeconomic development of the regional countries.
H.E. Laov Him provided a detailed introduction to the basic situation of Cambodia’s Ministry of Labor and Vocational Training. Among Cambodia’s population of 17 million, over 10 million are in the labor force. The new government plans to train 1.5 million vocational and technical talents within five years and has developed a national vocational technical education plan focusing on ten priority areas. He expressed the hope to work closely with SZPU in fields such as information technology, cloud computing, electromechanical engineering, cross-border e-commerce, and cultural tourism to enhance the employability and entrepreneurial capabilities of Cambodian youth.
Dr. Beny Bandanadjaja shared information on the scale of higher and vocational education in Indonesia, the main fields of study, and international development, and stated his active support for collaboration with SZPU in faculty training, textbook development, and vocational education research. He also welcomed visits and exchanges by SZPU faculty and students to Indonesia, with financial support provided. Muhammad Amir Syarifuddin discussed the scale and development of vocational training in Indonesia and expressed interest in learning from SZPU’s deep integration of school-enterprise cooperation.
Duan Xiaofei stated that CIIC International Education leverages the national strategy of the “Belt and Road”, the central enterprise resource platform, and the global talent services of the CIIC Group to focus on international vocational education services and international talent training. The purpose of inviting the tripartite delegation from Cambodia and Indonesia to SZPU was to facilitate connections between government agencies, the international service needs of Chinese-funded enterprises, and vocational college talent training, supporting the globalization of Chinese vocational education.
In a friendly and enthusiastic atmosphere, SZPU and CIIC International Education signed a framework agreement for cooperation, which will include academic exchanges, teacher training, and student exchanges among other activities.
The delegation tours the training labs of SZPU.
Before the meeting, the delegation also toured SZPU’s BYD Applied Technology School, Huawei Specialty Industry School, Han’s Laser School, Internet of Things Research Institute, and Integrated Circuit Materials Research Institute. The delegation praised SZPU’s deep integration of industry and education, applied research and development achievements, and meticulous management.
