From May 14 to 20, the first Guangdong University Women's Soccer Tournament was held in Guangzhou. Our women's soccer team clinched the title in Group C (higher vocational and technical college group) by defeating Guangdong Mechanical and Electrical Polytechnic with a score of 2-1.
This inaugural tournament attracted 46 women's soccer teams from 44 universities across Guangdong, with a total of 1,056 participants, showcasing the soccer talents of female students from various universities. After seven days of intense competition, our women's soccer team overcame numerous difficulties and challenges and demonstrated the spirit of Shenzhen Polytechnic University soccer players. The team triumphed with a 2-1 victory over Guangdong Mechanical and Electrical Polytechnic to claim the championship. Zhang Xilin, the team captain from the School of Economics, scored a goal and provided an assist in the final, while Li Yanyu from the School of Management scored the crucial winning goal.
Founded in 2019, our women's soccer team is the first of its kind among vocational colleges in Shenzhen. Under the meticulous guidance of coach Li Huang, the team underwent rigorous training and preparation for several months. With enthusiasm and determination, they faced the competition head-on. During the matches, the players showcased excellent coordination, both in offense and defense, highlighting their superb soccer skills and the positive spirit of contemporary university students. Looking ahead, our women's soccer team will continue to strive for excellence, further enhancing their skills and contributing to the high-quality development of our university's sports programs.
