Our University Showcases Over 400 Faculty and Student Works at the China (Shenzhen) International Cultural Industries Fair

Date: May 24, 2024

Our university’s booth attracts international visitors.

On May 23, the 20th China (Shenzhen) International Cultural Industries Fair (ICIF) grandly opened at the Shenzhen World Exhibition & Convention Center (Bao’an). This event provided a rich and diverse cultural exchange feast for cultural enthusiasts and professionals. Our university’s booth, located in the Cultural Tourism and Consumption Hall (Hall 15), became a focal point, showcasing the abundant creative achievements of our faculty and students over the past year.

The university’s booth at this year’s ICIF was organized by our Office of Scientific Research and hosted by the Cultural & Creative Products Institute, featuring over 400 works by faculty and students. These works covered five major categories: Yungang-themed creations, cultural and creative products, arts and crafts, jewelry design, and digital interaction, fully demonstrating the creative talents and innovative abilities of our university’s community.

University Leadership Receives Briefing from Relevant Heads.

On the opening day, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and President Xu Jianling visited the ICIF to encourage the participating faculty and students. At each stop, he inquired in detail about the exhibited works and listened to the relevant heads’ introductions. After touring all the projects, Xu Jianling commented that the exhibited works not only showcased the creative talents of our faculty and students, but also reflected the school’s long-standing educational philosophy. He emphasized the importance of integrating industry and education, encouraging collaboration between the school and local enterprises to develop cultural and creative products, thus promoting the prosperity and development of the cultural industry.

“Yungang Sacred Tree: Everlasting Vitality” - Creative Derivative Design from Yungang Grottoes.

A highlight of our booth was the display of seven series of works from the major sub-project of the Art Project of National Social Science Fund of China, “Creative Derivative Design of Yungang Grottoes Ornamentation”. These works distilled the essence of traditional Yungang Grottoes ornamentation and typical patterns, exploring and innovating new modes of “Yungang Ornamentation, Chinese Culture, Contemporary Expression”, rejuvenating traditional beauty in contemporary life. The series garnered wide attention from society upon its debut.

Urban Tourism Cultural Creative Design “Hello Bao’an”.

Additionally, the faculty and students presented “Hello, Bao’an”, a cultural creative product embodying the cultural essence of Bao’an District, Shenzhen. Inspired by the most representative regional elements of Bao’an, this work presented Shenzhen’s unique urban aesthetics through flat, unstructured compositions.

In the digital interaction field, the work “Digital Cultural Creative Development of Qing Palace Animal Atlas - A Case Study of Haicuo Tu” gained popularity. Drawing creative inspiration from the marine life depicted in the “Haicuo Tu”, this work used cross-media creative methods and AIGC platform technology to give traditional paintings a new contemporary significance.

Moreover, our faculty and students showcased the “Xijiang Qianhu Miao Village Fuyu Cultural and Tourism Complex” project. This project deeply explored Miao cultural connotations, integrating local cultural characteristics into re-creations, presenting an immersive cultural and tourism complex filled with traditional cultural elements to the audience.

In the jewelry design section, the works of jewelry design instructors attracted numerous visitors. Pieces like “Charcoal Series”, “Sound Series”, and “Bamboo Sequence, Bamboo Deer” vividly illustrated the unique charm of contemporary jewelry design, reflecting the deep exploration of sustainable materials and traditional culture by our faculty and students.
