From October 26 to 30, the national finals of the “Intelligent Aircraft Application Technology” event for the higher vocational group of the 2024 World Vocational College Skills Competition took place at Weifang Vocational College. Representing the School of Automotive and Transportation Engineering, our university’s drone technology team, competing in a national-level event for the first time, achieved a gold medal victory.
The competition, co-hosted by the Ministry of Education, the National Development and Reform Commission, the Ministry of Science and Technology, and over 30 other government agencies, saw 59 teams from across the country competing in the Intelligent Aircraft Application Technology category. In the end, six teams won gold, 11 teams took silver, and 13 teams received bronze awards. Our team, composed of four students from the 2022 and 2023 Drone Technology cohorts, presented a project focused on drone formation performances and safety management. The project included seven components, such as drone formation design and execution, safety management, and aerial acrobatics. The team’s outstanding technical skills, professionalism, strong teamwork, and innovative product ideas—geared toward the low-altitude cultural tourism sector—distinguished them among the competitors, earning them a well-deserved gold medal.
