New Zealand Higher Education Delegation Holds Talks with Shenzhen Polytechnic University

On November 5, a delegation from New Zealand’s higher education sector visited Shenzhen Polytechnic University. Xu Jianling, Deputy Party Secretary and President of SZPU, met with Dr. Chen Jinming, Honorary President of New Zealand Peili College, and Mr. Zhang Gongshan, Chairman of UUNZ Institute of Business. Also present at the meeting were Wang Ying, Dean of the School of Economics; Wang Bingfeng, Director of the Office of International Exchange and Cooperation; and Chen Yana, Project Officer from the same office. Centered on the theme of “Promoting International Cooperation in Vocational Education,” the two sides engaged in an in-depth discussion on multi-level, multi-field cooperation plans.

During their visit, the New Zealand delegation first toured the training rooms of the BYD Automotive School and the Huawei ICT Exhibition Hall at the School of Telecommunications at Shenzhen Polytechnic University. They gained a deeper understanding of the university's initiatives in fostering practical skills among students and building advanced teaching facilities. The delegation expressed high recognition of the university's achievements in enhancing students' vocational skills and improving teaching infrastructure. They also expressed their eagerness to further collaborate on more projects in the future.

Following the visit, the university and the delegation held a roundtable discussion. Xu Jianling first introduced the university's development and reviewed the history of collaboration with New Zealand institutions, as well as the outcomes of recent visits to New Zealand. He expressed the hope of further deepening exchange and cooperation with New Zealand universities in the future. Chen Jinming outlined New Zealand's educational policies and shared examples of collaboration between New Zealand universities and China. He expressed a willingness to support further educational cooperation between Shenzhen Polytechnic University and New Zealand, particularly in promoting China's vocational education internationally. Zhang Gongshan and Bian Yuebin offered suggestions for strengthening university -enterprise cooperation and enhancing exchanges between universities.

The two parties also discussed collaborative plans to establish a "Shenzhen Digital Workshop," the "Shenzhen Agreement," and a training base for high-level, high-skilled faculty teams in dual vocational education.
