SZPU Successfully Hosts the 2024–2025 Guangdong Vocational College Skills Competition – Intelligent Aerial Vehicle Application Technology Track

Date: Apr 8, 2025

Recently, the Intelligent Aerial Vehicle Application Technology Track of the 2024–2025 Guangdong Vocational College Skills Competition was successfully held at Shenzhen Polytechnic University (SZPU). The event was hosted by the Department of Education of Guangdong Province, organized by SZPU, and supported technically by Xi’an Tianyi Zhikong Education Technology Co., Ltd. After fierce competition, five teams—including those from SZPU, Shenzhen Institute of Information Technology, Guangzhou College of Technology and Business, and Guangzhou City Construction College—stood out and won first prizes in the provincial competition. The SZPU team claimed the championship title.

This year marked the second edition of the provincial competition, following the successful inaugural event last year. Participation reached a new high, with 48 teams from 48 higher vocational institutions across the province—a 20% increase in the number of participating schools compared to the previous year.

As one of the key tracks of the National Vocational College Skills Competition, the event upheld the philosophy of “promoting teaching, learning, and reform through competition.” In addition to the three core tasks from last year’s provincial event—Intelligent Aerial Vehicle Design and Control, Programming and Development, and Application in Typical Scenarios—this year’s competition introduced an outdoor UAV airdrop task. A new 10-minute Comprehensive Presentation segment was also added to provide a holistic assessment of participants’ capabilities in design, algorithm development, scenario-based applications, and communication.

The competition served as a comprehensive assessment of the teaching achievements in the field of intelligent aerial vehicle application technology across vocational institutions in Guangdong Province. It also provided a valuable platform for technical exchange among participating schools and effectively promoted the deep integration of “job roles, competitions, curriculum, and certifications.” Through the event, students significantly enhanced their hands-on skills and innovative thinking, while also advancing industry-education collaboration and school-enterprise partnerships. The competition injected new momentum into cultivating high-caliber, versatile talent in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area—professionals equipped with expertise in identification, control, piloting, application, and research.
