Recently, the 2024–2025 Guangdong Vocational College Skills Competition (Higher Vocational Group) – Elderly Care Track, hosted by the Department of Education of Guangdong Province and organized by Shenzhen Polytechnic University (SZPU), was successfully held at the Xili Lake Campus Gymnasium. The competition attracted outstanding students from various vocational colleges across Guangdong Province, aiming to comprehensively assess their professional skills, practical abilities, and team collaboration. The student team from SZPU's School of Health and Nursing, led by instructors Wang Juan and Chen Ye, won first prize (1st place) in the provincial competition and earned qualification for the national finals.

During the hands-on segment, participants simulated real-life scenarios to deliver meticulous and compassionate care to “patients,” demonstrating an impressive integration of humanistic care and professional competence. In the theoretical segment, the contestants responded calmly and accurately, showcasing a strong foundation of knowledge and quick adaptability. SZPU’s team stood out for their teamwork, precise execution, and professionalism, earning high praise from the judges and highlighting the university’s excellence and achievements in elderly care education and training.The successful hosting of this competition not only provided a platform for vocational students to showcase their skills and exchange experiences but also played a key role in promoting the overall skill level of vocational colleges in Guangdong Province and cultivating high-quality technical talent in the field of elderly care.
