On March 16, the Intelligent Control and Maintenance of Industrial Networks Track of the 2024–2025 Guangdong Vocational College Skills Competition concluded successfully at the Xili Lake Campus Gymnasium of Shenzhen Polytechnic University (SZPU). The event was hosted by the Department of Education of Guangdong Province and organized by SZPU’s School of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering. A total of 52 teams comprising more than 200 contestants from 52 vocational colleges across the province participated in the competition. After intense competition, SZPU students Tang Xiuchao, Chen Zixi, Cai Wenxuan, and Chen Haoxin, all from the Electrical Automation Technology program, secured first place and won the top prize in the student competition category.
The Intelligent Control and Maintenance of Industrial NetworksTrack is based on real-world scenarios drawn from intelligent manufacturing production lines and incorporates enterprise-level job requirements. Each team was required to complete a series of tasks within a specified time. The competition included two main modules: “Skills Test” and “Comprehensive Presentation,” and thoroughly evaluated contestants’ abilities in industrial network design, simulation, setup, debugging, control, and maintenance. It also tested participants’ problem-solving skills in equipment installation, electrical wiring, programming, and troubleshooting. Beyond technical ability, the competition also placed a strong emphasis on professional competencies such as teamwork, quality awareness, engineering thinking, and craftsmanship. As a team-based competition, the event required each participating student team—excluding coaches and instructors—to be composed of three or four members. A total of 52 student teams took part in this year’s competition.
