Our University Triumphs at the Challenge Cup.

From May 17 to 19, a delegation of 50 faculty and student representatives from Shenzhen Polytechnic University (SZPU) traveled to Zhaoqing University to compete in the final round of the 18th “Challenge Cup” Guangdong College Student Extracurricular Academic and Technological Works Competition and the Zhaoqing-themed “Hundred-Thousand-Ten Thousand Project” Special Competition. After fierce competition, SZPU claimed 4 First Prizes, 7 Second Prizes, and 11 Third Prizes, once again winning the prestigious “Excellence Cup”. This year marks a historic high in the university’s total number of awards, placing SZPU among the top institutions in the province in terms of overall score.

List of Award-Winning Projects.

To prepare for the competition, the university’s Youth League Committee launched its internal selection process as early as June of last year. With over 1,000 students and faculty submitting 112 projects, a rigorous selection process—comprising preliminary, semifinal, and final rounds—narrowed the entries down to 22 outstanding projects for the provincial competition. Throughout the preparation period, the Youth League Committee provided strong organizational and logistical support. Over 30 online and offline sessions were held, covering topics such as themed training, project writing, one-on-one mentorship, and mock defenses. The effort was a university-wide collaboration, with active support from the academic schools, Student Affairs Office, Industrial Training Center (School of Innovation and Entrepreneurship), Academic Affairs Office, and Research Office.

Project supervisors offered hands-on guidance to ensure students effectively integrated their academic expertise with real-world research and technological innovation. Regular coaching sessions, ongoing mentorship, and intensive pre-competition training helped resolve project challenges and significantly enhanced students’ presentation and defense skills. At the finals, SZPU students delivered confident and articulate presentations, demonstrating composure and professionalism as they engaged in Q&A with the judges. Their outstanding performance showcased the comprehensive capabilities and vibrant spirit of SZPU’s youth.
