On July 30, SZPU held a symposium for 2025 undergraduate freshmen in Conference Room 101, Mingde Building. Xu Jianling, Deputy Party Secretary and President of SZPU, held discussions with six freshmen representatives from Yangjiang No.1 Middle School, Shenzhen Middle School, Shenzhen Foreign Languages School, Hongling Middle School (Futian District), and Bao’an Middle School. Leaders of relevant colleges and departments attended, with Cui Lian, Director of the Admissions and Employment Office, presiding.
This year, with admissions quotas doubled, SZPU admitted students in both physics and history categories whose scores all exceeded the provincial excellence threshold, further improving student quality. The number of high-scoring students increased significantly, including 10 physics-category students scoring over 600. In Guangdong, 910 physics-category students were admitted, up 104.5% year-on-year. The highest admission score was 617 (83 points above the excellence threshold and 181 above the undergraduate line), ranking 15,707th; the lowest was 566 (32 points above the excellence threshold and 130 above the undergraduate line), ranking 59,726th. For the first time, SZPU admitted history-category students; the lowest score was 558, 94 points above the undergraduate line and 1 point above the excellence threshold, ranking 20,061st. In the arts category, both scores and rankings reached new highs, with the lowest admitted score at 512 and a ranking of 4,042.
Meanwhile, SZPU expanded undergraduate enrollment to eight provinces, adding Guizhou and Sichuan. A total of 145 physics-category students from outside Guangdong were admitted, a 70.6% increase year-on-year. The two new provinces were well received: in Guizhou, the lowest score was 525 (42 above the excellence threshold); in Sichuan, the lowest was 562 (44 above the threshold).

Xu Jianling presented admission letters to freshman representatives.
At the ceremony, Xu Jianling introduced the university’s history, distinctive features, reforms, and research strengths. He noted that, located at the forefront of China’s reform and opening up, SZPU has, since its founding 32 years ago, adhered to its mission of fostering both moral character and academic excellence. The university has maintained its unique vocational identity with Shenzhen characteristics, aligned with both national strategies and local needs, and continuously innovated its systems, educational concepts, and talent cultivation models. “Choosing SZPU means choosing a path of industry-education integration and the unity of knowledge and action,” he said. He encouraged students to plan carefully, pursue theory, engage in hands-on practice, refine their skills, and cultivate innovative thinking—using knowledge to strengthen their minds and skills to illuminate their lives.
Nie Zhe, Executive Dean of the School of Undergraduate Education and the Tech X Academy, gave a brief introduction to undergraduate training programs. He noted that the university will provide resources, platforms, and opportunities to support students in realizing their goals.
Six freshmen representatives, including Lin Gangming, Chen Jingtong, and Zhan Jiakai, shared their reasons for choosing SZPU and their expectations for university life. Lin Gangming from Yangjiang No.1 Middle School was admitted to the Tech X Academy (Experimental Class of Electronic Information Engineering Technology) with a score of 617. “My Gaokao results far exceeded expectations, and I could have gone to many 211 universities.” Lin admitted he hesitated briefly after the results. But after visiting SZPU and learning more about the Tech X Academy, he was deeply impressed by its strong faculty, advanced teaching model, interdisciplinary curriculum, and real industry projects. “The school’s strong industry cooperation resources and top-notch faculty greatly attracted me. Especially its expertise in electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft perfectly matches my interests and future plans, which made me firmly choose SZPU.”
“I remember during my first campus visit, seeing the advanced training facilities and real project cases, I thought—this is where I want to learn and grow.” Chen Jingtong, a freshman from Shenzhen Bao’an Middle School, had attended SZPU’s campus open day in June. She shared that the university’s distinctive emphasis on industry-education integration, its forward-looking academic programs closely aligned with industry frontiers, and its broad platforms for school-enterprise collaborative education all sowed seeds of aspiration in her heart. Chen Jingtong was successfully admitted to the Automation Technology and Applications program: “I believe that at SZPU, I can acquire the most market-relevant and practical skills to contribute to the nation’s ‘smart manufacturing’ dream!”
As of July 30, all admission letters for 2025 undergraduate freshmen had been sent out, while junior college admissions were expected to begin in early August.
