On August 11, the establishment conference of the Artificial Intelligence Branch of the Chinese Society for Technical and Vocational Education was held in Beijing. Attendees included Lu Xin, President of the Chinese Society for Technical and Vocational Education and former Vice Minister of Education; Zhang Feng, Party Secretary of the Chinese Institute of Electronics Council; Li Kang, Vice President of the Society and former Vice Chairman of the Guangxi Committee of the CPPCC; Liu Jiantong, Vice President and Secretary-General of the Society; He Xiuchao, Vice President of the Society; Feng Wei, Vice President of the Society, Member of the Guangdong Provincial Education Working Committee, Member of the Party Leadership Group and Deputy Director of the Department of Education of Guangdong Province; Yuan Lei, Member of the Shenzhen Municipal Education Working Committee, Member of the Party Leadership Group and Deputy Director of the Education Bureau of Shenzhen Municipality; Hua Jingxin, Vice President of the Society; Zhao Aiqin, Vice President of the Society and Principal of the Beijing Fengtai Vocational High School; Liu Baomin, Deputy Secretary-General of the Society; Xu Jianling, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and President of Shenzhen Polytechnic University; and Li Xiaoyuan, Party Committee Member and Vice President of Shenzhen Polytechnic University, among other distinguished guests. The conference was hosted by Wang Yangnan, Vice President of the Society. Nearly 200 representatives from high-level universities, vocational colleges, research institutions, and leading enterprises across the country gathered to witness the establishment of the Artificial Intelligence Branch of the Society.
Lu Xin delivered an academic report titled Artificial Intelligence: Vocational Education Adapting to the Leading Direction of Intelligent Innovation. The report highlighted that artificial intelligence has become the leading direction for vocational education to adapt to intelligent innovation, and the establishment of this branch marks a significant step for the Society in serving national strategies and cultivating high-skilled talents. The Artificial Intelligence Branch should focus on key areas such as artificial intelligence, integrated circuits, and the industrial internet, building a new ecosystem for deep industry-education integration, conducting in-depth research on curriculum standards and developing new forms of teaching materials, and promoting the integration of cutting-edge technologies like large-scale AI models and digital twins into the entire talent cultivation process to provide talent support for developing new productive forces.
In his speech, Yuan Lei stated that against the backdrop of artificial intelligence reshaping the global economic landscape, the establishment of the Artificial Intelligence Branch signifies the Society’s proactive embrace of new technologies and service to national strategic layouts. Shenzhen is home to leading enterprises such as Huawei and Tencent, as well as high-level vocational institutions like Shenzhen Polytechnic University, making it both a pioneer in artificial intelligence industry development and a high ground for vocational education development. The Education Bureau of Shenzhen Municipality will fully support the work of the Artificial Intelligence Branch, pooling high-quality resources to promote the organic integration of the education chain, talent chain, industry chain, and innovation chain in the field of artificial intelligence, actively empowering the development of new productive forces.
In his speech, Feng Wei stated that the establishment of the Artificial Intelligence Branch is an important measure for the Society to actively respond to national strategies and serve industrial upgrading, injecting new momentum into the deep integration of vocational education and artificial intelligence technology. He suggested that vocational education should proactively embrace artificial intelligence, build an educational ecosystem adapted to new technological development, deepen industry-education integration, create new models for university-enterprise collaborative talent cultivation, and always take the cultivation of technical and skilled talents to support high-quality development as its core mission. The Department of Education of Guangdong Province will work with peers nationwide to explore new paths for the intelligent development of vocational education, contributing to the high-quality development of vocational education in the artificial intelligence era.
In his speech, Zhang Feng stated that the establishment of the Artificial Intelligence Branch is a key measure to implement the national “Artificial Intelligence+” action, holding significant importance for cultivating urgently needed talents in the artificial intelligence field. The current development of the artificial intelligence industry faces challenges of talent shortages, requiring vocational education to precisely align with the strategic needs of building a manufacturing powerhouse. The Chinese Institute of Electronics is promoting the construction of a talent cultivation system for the embodied intelligence industry and will strengthen cooperation with the Society in the future, jointly advancing artificial intelligence technology development to provide talent support for developing new productive forces and promoting new industrialization.
In his speech, Liu Jiantong stated that artificial intelligence technology is profoundly transforming human life, with global competition in artificial intelligence intensifying, making the cultivation of high-quality technical and skilled talents with innovative spirit and practical abilities crucial. The Society will focus on emerging artificial intelligence industries and key industrial chains, conducting in-depth theoretical research and standard-setting to support the empowerment of vocational education with artificial intelligence technology throughout the process. He expressed hope that the Branch would adhere to lawful governance, enhance service capabilities, and contribute to cultivating high-quality technical and skilled talents in the artificial intelligence field.
The conference announced the Letter on Approving the Establishment of the Artificial Intelligence Branch of the Chinese Society for Technical and Vocational Education, reviewed the Preparatory Work Report of the Artificial Intelligence Branch of the Chinese Society for Technical and Vocational Education, approved the Work Rules of the Artificial Intelligence Branch of the Chinese Society for Technical and Vocational Education and the Election Methods of the Artificial Intelligence Branch of the Chinese Society for Technical and Vocational Education, and elected the first committee of the Artificial Intelligence Branch. Lu Xin was elected as the Director of the First Committee of the Artificial Intelligence Branch, Xu Jianling was elected as the First Executive Director, Li Xiaoyuan and Lu Jing were elected as Executive Directors and Secretaries-General, Yang Jinfeng was elected as Standing Deputy Director and Deputy Secretary-General, and Hu Hao was elected as Deputy Director. The Branch also established an Expert Advisory Committee, inviting academicians from the Chinese Academy of Sciences and Chinese Academy of Engineering, as well as renowned experts from education, industry, and vocational and technical education disciplines to serve as members.
The convening of this conference marks a significant step for the Society in the application of artificial intelligence technology, providing a new platform and momentum for promoting the modernization of vocational education and serving national strategic needs. The conference was hosted by the Chinese Society for Technical and Vocational Education and organized by Shenzhen Polytechnic University.
