On September 10, the Award Ceremony for the 11^thGuangdong Provincial Award for Outstanding Achievements in Philosophy and Social Sciences was held in Guangzhou. A research paper titled “Digital Transformation of Vocational Education: Exploration and Practice at Shenzhen Polytechnic University,” authored by a research team led by Xu Jianling, Secretary of the CPC Committee of Shenzhen Polytechnic University (SZPU), and co-authored by Jiang Tao, Wei Ming and Qing Zhongquan, won Second Prize.

The paper was first published as the cover article inResearch in Higher Engineering Education, No. 6, 2023. In January 2024, the paper was selected and reproduced in full byVocational and Technical Education, published by the Information Center for Social Sciences of Renmin University of China. Focusing on the major contemporary issue of digital transformation in vocational education, the study takes the reform and development practices of SZPU as its research case. It systematically summarizes the university’s innovative approaches to digital development and the outcomes achieved, provides an in-depth analysis of the practical challenges facing the digital development of vocational institutions, and distills a replicable model of digital education and teaching reform. The experience and practices presented in the study can provide practical reference for similar institutions across China in advancing digital reform and leveraging digital technologies to support the entire process of talent cultivation. They also carry important theoretical and practical significance for accelerating the development of a modern vocational education system and promoting the high-quality development of vocational education.

The Guangdong Provincial Award for Outstanding Achievements in Philosophy and Social Sciences is the province’s highest-level and most prestigious government award recognizing achievements in philosophy and social sciences. Established with the approval of the CPC Guangdong Provincial Committee and the People’s Government of Guangdong Province, the award aims to encourage researchers across Guangdong to produce high-quality research, advance the development of philosophy and social sciences in the province, and contribute academic insights and expertise to Guangdong’s efforts in advancing Chinese modernization.
