The orange color of the welcome scene was full of vitality
With the bright sunshine and cool autumn breeze, on August 31, SZPT welcomed the first 200 undergraduate students (2023). This year, for the first time, we enrolled 200 students for six undergraduate majors: Electronic Information Engineering Technology, Modern Communication Engineering, Artificial Intelligence Engineering Technology, Intelligent Manufacturing Engineering Technology, New Energy Vehicle Engineering Technology, and Digital Animation.
Early in the morning, SZPT President Xu Jianling, Vice President Dong Chaojun and the heads of relevant departments came to the registration point to visit the undergraduate freshmen (2023), as well as the teachers, students and staff involved in the welcome work.
Xu Jianling had a cordial conversation with the freshmen
“What’s your major? What are your expectations for college life?” At the welcome scene, Xu Jianling made exchanges on study plans with Cheng Haoran, a freshman (2023) majoring in new energy vehicle engineering technology, asked him about his learning interests and future planning, and encouraged him to study hard, seize the opportunities and strive to become a strong player in the new era. After hearing the encouragement of the president, the freshman was excited and determined to study hard in the next four years and make unremitting efforts to explore a new journey of study and life. When learning that many of the students on the scene were freshmen who had come to the campus in advance to participate in the orientation camp and get involved in the welcome work, Xu Jianling praised their independence and dedication.
“One-stop” registration process
The welcome point was located at the Student Affairs Service Center, with the mascots Shenxiaozhi and Shenxiaoe display board, colorful balloons, beautiful photo spots, under the main color of orange being full of vitality.
From 7 o’clock in the morning, the welcome point was bustling. The staff and volunteers took their places to welcome every undergraduate student (2023) with the most enthusiastic smile and the most considerate service.
The freshmen left their own fingerprints on the youth growth tree
The freshmen signed their names in front of the welcome background and wrote down their hopes for the future
Following the principle of “one-stop” registration, the registration process was simplified as far as possible, and freshmen were organized to handle the registration procedures in an orderly manner. Under the enthusiastic guidance and introduction of the staff and volunteers, all freshmen completed a series of registration procedures smoothly: interacting with the lovely mascots, leaving their own fingerprints on the youth growth tree, taking the first group photo with SZPT in front of the welcome background, casting a message on youth and the future in the youth post box, watching the wonderful major exhibition area... A variety of well-designed welcome activities swept away the freshmen’s fatigue of the journey, and put a smile on the face of every new SZPT student.
Peer support to help new students integrate into college life in advance
Different from previous years, this year, SZPT made an innovation by involving new students in the welcome work, i.e. new students would greet their classmates to enter the campus.
The welcome scene was orderly

In the past, the welcome work was mostly undertaken by senior students, but for the School of Undergraduate Education, which just opened this year, everything is starting from scratch and there is no precedent to follow. How to let freshmen quickly integrate into college life and adapt to the campus environment? The school organized the “Freshman Navigation Camp”. Through the combination of independent registration and school selection, 14 freshmen were selected from 200 freshmen, who registered in advance and participate in the three-day freshman navigation camp. With a relaxed and happy main tone, the camp integrated the concepts of enrollment theme education, student work affairs and other aspects, providing a comfortable and broad space for the growth of freshmen.
After the early training, 14 freshmen officially started work today to provide new students with warm and thoughtful welcome services. “Although it is a little hard, I feel very honored to register in advance to experience the campus life! Being able to provide services to the students, I also feel a special sense of gain!” Zhang Jiayan, a member of the camp and a student of 2023 electronic experimental class, said proudly.
Build dreams at SZPT and open a bright future for 200 freshmen
The freshmen had a hands-on experience in the major exhibition area at the welcome scene to learn about professional knowledge in advance
It is reported that, SZPT has set September 1 to September 8 as the “Sailing Week” for new students, carrying out education on the identity of the university and the major, mental health and safety education, and volunteer service culture and concept through campus visits, counselor meetings, thematic education lectures, dormitory convention signing, professional education talks, mental health education and other activities to help freshmen change their identity as soon as possible and start college life smoothly.
It is worth mentioning that SZPT has arranged a special activity of visiting Tencent, BYD, Artron Art Centre and other famous enterprises in Shenzhen for an “immersive” feeling of the charm of famous enterprises in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, and the pioneering spirit of the Special Zone.
