The event was held in Block E, Gewu Garden, Xili Lake Campus

On September 6, Yang Xinbin, Secretary of the Party Committee of SZPT, presided over the “Party Secretary and President Afternoon Tea” event under the theme of “Plant Your Own Tree” in Block E, Gewu Garden, Xili Lake Campus, and had face-to-face communication with 21 representatives of undergraduate freshmen. The relevant heads from the Office of Academic Affairs, the Office of Student Affairs, the Youth League Committee, the Office of Logistics & Infrastructure, the School of Undergraduate Education, and the School of Future Technology participated in the event.

At the symposium, the students talked about their growth and harvest, confusion and thinking, learning and development goals and college life planning based on the theme and their own experience. They said that as the first batch of undergraduates of the university, they are very honored and feel a great responsibility. Bearing the ardent hope of the university, they will work hard to learn professional knowledge and improve themselves in the next four years, striving to produce a perfect answer paper when the next four years come to an end.

The department heads listened carefully to the speeches of the students and made corresponding exchanges of viewpoints on the theme, providing valuable experience and suggestions for the students’ college life.

In his concluding speech, Yang Xinbin praised the students for theirprofound thinking and unique opinions on the theme. He shared his thoughts on the theme of “Planting Your Own Tree”. To grow from a “small sapling” to a towering tree four years later, the students should first set good visions, directions and goals; then put into action and practice, improve the ability of choice and judgment, and grow better and distinctive fruits. Only by asking, thinking and enhancing in action, coupled with persistent exercise and learning could the students grow. Finally, they should be good at discovering the beauty of others’ fruits, so as to bear our own fruitful fruits.

In the end, Yang Xinbin put forward several expectations for the students: First, be a sunny youth who is confident and full of positive energy. Second, measure the earth of China with their feet, observe China and the world with their own eyes, make judgment with their own brain, and measure with their own steps. Third, read ten thousand books, travel ten thousand miles, have a strong body, practice the law of ten thousand hours to become an expert in an industry or field. Fourth, do more, practice frequently, and take out products to prove their hard power. Fifth, be good at communication and cooperation, and develop a sense of teamwork.
