On September 15,to strengthen exchanges and cooperation among teachers of vocational colleges in BRICS countries and enhance the capacity of teachers and administrators of vocational colleges, 2023 III “TVET Air Workshop” was successfully held in accordance with the 2023 work plan of BRICS TVET Cooperation Alliance (BRICS-TCA). The workshop was hosted by the Secretariat of BRICS-TCA, and the China Education Association for International Exchange (CEAIE), and organized by Shenzhen Polytechnic University as a member of BRICS-TCA. More than 60 persons attended the workshop, including administrative staff, enterprise personnel, teachers and representatives from all members of BRICS-TCA.
The workshop was themed by “Teaching Quality Assessment in the Context of Production-Education Integration”. Zhang Xisheng, Senior Researcher of Quality Assurance Center of SZPU, introduced the practice and experience of Chinese vocational colleges from three aspects: the basic situation of Chinese vocational colleges, the comparison of quality management between higher vocational colleges and undergraduate colleges, and the framework of internal quality assurance system. Rodrigo Varejao Andreao, Professor of Brazilian Federal Network of Technical and Vocational Education and Training, introduced the basic situation of the Brazilian Federal Network of Technical and Vocational Education and Training, and shared the practice and experience of Brazilian colleges and universities from several aspects, i.e. the challenges brought by digital transformation, innovative measures and future development planning. Tatiana Ziminova, Deputy Director of Center for Methodological Support and Evaluation Materials of Department of TVET Quality Assessment and Development at Federal Institute for TVET Development, introduced the model examination as a key form of TVET quality assessment in Russia through case studies. JT Ngcobo, Deputy Secretary General of South African Public Colleges Organization (SAPCO), introduced South Africa’s teaching quality assessment system from several aspects such as the legislative framework, assessment objectives and principles, and challenges. Their wonderful sharings provided a good reference for education administrators and teachers of vocational colleges in BRICS countries.
To implement the initiative of “Establishing a BRICS TVET Cooperation Alliance” proposed by General Secretary Xi Jinping at the 13th BRICS Leaders’ Meeting, the International Department of the Ministry of Education entrusted CEAIE to initiate the establishment of BRICS-TCA jointly with the industry organizations of BRICS countries. SZPU is one of the co-sponsors of BRICS-TCA and takes charge of the relevant work of the Brazil Working Group. (Li Simin, International Office)
