On December 3, the results of the 19th National College Student Smart Car Competition - Outdoor Intelligent Driving Challenge Final were announced. Under the guidance of instructors Deng Zhijun from the School of Undergraduate Education and Li Zhisen from the School of Automotive and Transportation Engineering, the team “SZPU Yixing Car Team” composed of students from the 2023 New Energy Vehicle program of the School of Undergraduate Education, won the first place in the national competition.
The National College Student Smart Car Competition is organized by the Chinese Association of Automation. The Outdoor Intelligent Driving Challenge is designed to simulate real-world applications of autonomous vehicles, including positioning navigation, computer vision, radar, artificial intelligence, automatic control, and motor control, among other technologies. The competition involves advanced technologies like intelligent vehicle control, machine vision, electronic circuits, robotic operating systems (ROS), LiDAR and depth cameras, SLAM (Simultaneous Localization and Mapping), path planning, and autonomous navigation. It encourages students to engage in engineering technology development and scientific research exploration, helping them to discover their potential in these fields.
