The concert was held at the Xili Lake Campus gymnasium.
On the evening of April 11, the “Music Project · The Original Music Awards of Shenzhen” 2024 Concert of Winning Works was successfully held at the Xili Lake Campus Gymnasium of Shenzhen Polytechnic University (SZPU). Co-hosted by the Publicity Department of the CPC Shenzhen Municipal Committee, the Culture, Media, Tourism and Sports Bureau of Shenzhen Municipality, the Shenzhen Federation of Literary and Art Circles, and Shenzhen Media Group, and organized by Shenzhen Media Group’s Radio Converged Media Center with SZPU as a co-organizer, the concert showcased Shenzhen’s achievements in original music in 2024 and depicted a vibrant blueprint for the development of the music and cultural industries.
Singer GooGoo led 60 SZPU students in performing “Don’t Worry, When the Sun Sets, the Moon Will Rise”.
That night, the awards for “Top Ten Golden Songs of the 2024 Music Project”, “Special Awards of the 2024 Music Project”, “Top Ten Golden Songs of the 2024 Original Music Awards of Shenzhen”, and “Individual Awards of the 2024 Original Music Awards of Shenzhen” were announced in succession. Many local musicians took to the stage, presenting a rich musical feast. From the upbeat “Let’s Dance” to the soulful “Chasing the Light”, from the energetic “18,886” to the culturally inspired “Moonlight over Green Hills”, each song reflected the diversity and depth of Shenzhen’s original music. Particularly touching was “Little Snail”, an original piece performed by children with autism, which showcased the healing power of music. In the finale, singer GooGoo led 60 SZPU students in performing “Don’t Worry, When the Sun Sets, the Moon Will Rise”, bringing the atmosphere to a climax.
Li Luya, a faculty member of the School of Management, co-hosted the concert alongside a Shenzhen Media Group anchor, representing SZPU’s faculty and students.
This large-scale, high-profile concert marked the first time that The Original Music Awards of Shenzhen was held at SZPU. Li Luya, a faculty member of the School of Management, co-hosted the event alongside a presenter from Shenzhen Media Group, representing the university’s teaching staff. The concert was warmly received by the students, who spoke highly of both the performances and the overall organization of the event. He, a sophomore, commented, “Tonight’s concert was amazing! Especially the song ‘Chasing the Light’—it truly made me feel the power of campus culture and the strong bond between teachers and students. As a student, I hope to express my own ideas through music too.”
The Original Music Awards of Shenzhen is an initiative launched and hosted by the Publicity Department of the CPC Shenzhen Municipal Committee, aiming to foster a thriving environment for original music in the city, promote the Shenzhen cultural brand, discover and cultivate new musical talents, and support Shenzhen’s goal of becoming a cultural and artistic hub in the Greater Bay Area. Over the years, the project has produced numerous Chinese-language musicians and works that have gained international attention, with performances at venues such as the Sydney Opera House in Australia, Cape Town World Music Festival in South Africa, and the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, D.C., earning it the reputation as “Shenzhen’s musical name card to the world”.
