From April 13 to 14, the Hotel Reception event of the 4th Vocational Skills Competition of Guangdong was successfully held at Shenzhen Polytechnic University (SZPU). The provincial-level competition, hosted by the Human Resources and Social Security Department of Guangdong Province and organized by SZPU, featured nine participating teams, including a specially invited delegation from Macao. The event also drew World Skills experts from Hong Kong, Xinjiang, and other regions who came to observe.

After two days of intense competition, SZPU student Liu Jiaxin stood out among the contestants and won the gold medal, securing a spot in the national finals. This year’s competition focused on core hotel industry competencies and was divided into four modules: Front Desk Reception, Back-Office Writing, Speed Challenge, and a Mixed Module combining front and back office tasks. The contest comprehensively assessed participants’ professional demeanor, multitasking ability, and adaptability under pressure.

Throughout the competition, contestants demonstrated their professional excellence and innovative thinking by integrating digital tools with traditional hospitality scenarios—through fluent foreign language communication, precise data handling, and personalized service solutions. More than just a skills contest, the event served as a practical platform for vocational institutions across the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and mainland China to deepen cooperation and advance the development of hospitality programs.
