From April 16 to 19, the national finals of the 2nd National College Student Career Planning Competition—co-hosted by the Ministry of Education and the People’s Government of Hunan Province—were held in Changsha. Cheng Haoran, a student from SZPU’s School of Undergraduate Education, stood out in the highly competitive field, earning a Gold Award in the Vocational Education Group of the Growth Track, marking the university’s first-ever national gold in this category, and SZPU’s fourth gold overall in the National Career Planning Competition.
This prestigious competition is a national initiative by the Ministry of Education to promote high-quality and full employment among college students. It aims to build a grand platform for strengthening career education, aligning talent supply and demand, and boosting employment services for graduates.
During the finals, Cheng Haoran presented his career development plan, aspiring to become a new energy vehicle (NEV) product design and release engineer, contributing to the technological transformation of China’s NEV industry. He detailed his academic action plan and achievements, confidently answered expert panel questions, and demonstrated a pioneering and determined spirit aligned with the university motto: “Virtue and Industry in Harmony, Self-Reliance in Strength”. Cheng’s strong performance earned him not only the Gold Award but also internship offers from five prominent companies, including GAC Group and Baiyun Power Group Co., Ltd.
Throughout the competition, the Admissions and Employment Office, together with the School of Undergraduate Education, provided end-to-end guidance covering document refinement, pitch rehearsals, and Q&A training—accumulating over 300 hours of mentorship. This comprehensive support significantly enhanced the participant’s overall competence and competitiveness.
Looking ahead, SZPU will continue deepening reform in employment-oriented education by integrating career development guidance throughout the admissions-training-employment pipeline. The university will leverage the competition’s influence to enhance student awareness of career planning, and promote well-informed perceptions of success, vocation, and employment, thereby boosting graduate competitiveness in the job market.
