They warmly welcomed the new students and expressed sincere gratitude to the faculty, staff, and volunteers working hard on-site.

University leaders warmly greeted Liu Enrui, a freshman in Cross-border E-commerce, Class of 2025.
At the School of Undergraduate Education, Xu Jianling had a cordial conversation with Liu Enrui, a new student of Cross-border E-commerce. As Liu Enrui has a rare muscular disease requiring a wheelchair, the school arranged her registration point in her dormitory, enabling her to complete all procedures without leaving her room. Speaking of their ties with SZPU, Liu’s parents shared their story—both are alumni of the university. Her father graduated from the School of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering in 1996, and her mother from the School of Economics and Management in 1997. As a “second-generation SZPU student”, Liu has always longed to study here. “When I heard SZPU was admitting students from the history track for the first time this year, I applied immediately. I’m truly thrilled to be admitted!” she said with a smile. Considering Liu’s special circumstances, the university arranged an accessible dormitory to ensure her convenience and safety on campus. “SZPU is your home!” Xu Jianling reminded departments to provide continuous support and services. This thoughtful care deeply touched Liu and her family, reflecting the university’s profound concern and inclusiveness for every student.
Patriotic Education: A Unique First Lesson for Freshmen
On September 3, coinciding with the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Chinese People’s War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War, all faculty and students watched the military parade at the registration sites, integrating patriotic education into the orientation. This special orientation activity connected the personal growth of the Class of 2025 with the destiny of the nation from the very first moment they entered university life.

Teachers and students at the School of Undergraduate Education’s orientation venue watched the military parade together.
Li Hao, a freshman in Intelligent Connected Vehicle Engineering (Class of 2025), excitedly shared his feelings at the orientation site: “To witness such a magnificent military parade in person right at the moment of entering university was both surprising and exciting. The resolute gaze and powerful steps of the PLA parade troops gave me a true sense of our nation’s strength and deepened my understanding of the phrase ‘Study for the rise of China’ in the new era. I know well that the strength of youth makes the nation strong. As a young student just entering university, I will transform this moment of pride and emotion into motivation, study diligently, stay grounded, and use my knowledge to serve society and contribute to the country!”
Fun Interactions: Freshmen Unlock Campus Culture Through Check-ins

The School of Electronic and Communication Engineering gave freshmen five-colored badges featuring SZPU Spirit, school motto, school ethos, study ethos, and college motto.
“Classmates, join the ‘SZPU DNA’ check-in collection activity! Answer the questions correctly to win exclusive cultural badges!” “I’ve already collected all five badges!” At the registration site, the School of Electronic and Communication Engineering’ orientation area was bustling, with freshmen actively engaging in the fun check-in activities. From guessing campus buildings with emojis, piecing together campus maps, to quick Q&A on campus knowledge, these fun games helped freshmen quickly get familiar with the university and the college. The five-colored badges subtly embedded “SZPU DNA” into their cultural identity, allowing the SZPU Spirit of “Upholding Integrity and Innovation, Standing at the Forefront” to be naturally passed on through interaction.

At the School of Artificial Intelligence’s orientation site, students captured their “first university film photo”.
Each school set up unique welcome stations with decorated registration areas and mascots, becoming the highlights of the orientation scene. At the School of Artificial Intelligence, freshmen could take photos on-site and receive instant prints; the School of Management offered a welcome concert and DIY mist-painted fans; the School of Automotive and Transportation Engineering showcased formula racing cars... Each school highlighted its professional characteristics to welcome the new generation of SZPU students.
Professional Showcases: Inspiring Freshmen’s Career Dreams

The Fashion Design and Industrial Design programs jointly presented an interdisciplinary visual feast.

A fashion art master from Istituto Marangoni delivered a wonderful lecture for freshmen.
At the School of Innovation and Creative Design’s orientation venue, the Fashion Design and Industrial Design programs jointly presented an interdisciplinary visual feast. Fiber art, printmaking, and lacquer art works attracted freshmen to take photos and share them on social media. In the Industrial Design exhibition area, the “Future Life Lab” showcased 3D printing works, children’s motorcycles, and prototypes of smart mobility vehicles for the elderly, vividly illustrating the professional philosophy of “designing to solve social needs”. The School also invited a fashion art master from the internationally renowned Istituto Marangoni to give a keynote lecture titled “Shaping the Glorious Future of Fashion”. The lecture helped freshmen clarify their future development paths while building professional understanding and a broad vision of the fashion art field.

Robots independently designed by students from the School of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering fully demonstrated strong engineering practice and innovation capabilities.

Outstanding senior students from the School of Integrated Circuits explained technological innovation projects to the freshmen.
The “Tech Interactive Zone” was equally popular, where the Robot Competition and Innovation Association (RCIA) of the School of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering showcased multiple self-developed robots. Fully automated sentry robots, high-degree-of-freedom engineering robots, and high-speed omni-wheel infantry robots, incorporating machine vision, embedded control, and autonomous navigation technologies, showcased the engineering practice and innovation skills of students. Freshmen and parents eagerly participated in hands-on activities, immersing themselves in the charm of intelligent technology.
At the library lecture hall, the 2025 freshmen orientation meeting of the School of Integrated Circuits was in full swing. Professors explained training objectives, curriculum design, and practice platforms, providing freshmen with a clear growth roadmap.
Digital Empowerment: Smart Orientation Enhances Enrollment Experience
This year’s orientation fully reflected SZPU’s “tech flair”. The university upgraded its smart orientation system, enabling freshmen to complete information submission, financial aid applications, and payments before arriving, significantly streamlining on-site registration. Based on the smart student affairs data platform, the system integrates business functions of academic affairs, finance, admissions, student services, and housing. A smart orientation visualization screen was built to monitor registration and dormitory occupancy in real time.

At the School of Artificial Intelligence’s orientation site, large screens displayed real-time data.
Leveraging its expertise, the School of Artificial Intelligence developed the “Rixin College GrowthPass” applet. Through a data connection model linking “freshman check-in code—GrowthPass—smart screen”, the big screen displayed real-time statistics such as registration numbers, rates, student origins, and gender ratios. New features such as photo sharing and message bullet screens allowed students to share their thoughts and blessings, marking a new transformation in digital governance of student registration.
Next, SZPU will organize a series of orientation and adaptation activities, including campus tours, counselor meetings, thematic lectures, and academic planning. These activities will strengthen students’ sense of identity with the university and their majors, provide education on mental health, safety, and career awareness, and help freshmen transition smoothly into university life. The goal is to comprehensively improve their academic performance, professional skills, interpersonal relationships, and overall competence, laying a solid foundation for future academic and career development.
