Faculties

The School of Material and Environment Engineering has a faculty of 105 members, including 16 professors, 22 associate professors (including senior engineers), 27 Ph.D. holders, and 17 training targets of the "Thousand-Hundred-Ten Project" of Guangdong Province and high-level leading talent of Shenzhen. More than 90% of teachers have held two professional titles or certificates. The School sets up five majors, namely Environment Engineering Technology, Water Supply and Drainage Engineering Technology, Material Engineering Technology (a major field of New Material Application Technology), Fine Chemical Technology, and Analysis and Test Technology. Two specialty clusters, namely Urban Eco-environment and Material Engineering Technology, are key-built clusters in Guangdong.

Covering an area of 7,000 square meters, the School's Training Center consists of four training workshops for environmental monitoring, water supply and drainage, fine chemical engineering and materials, and public fundamentals of chemistry and analysis, equipped with more than 1,400 sets of instruments and equipment worth more than RMB 89 million. In addition, it has a higher vocational training base of Guangdong Province and an off-campus public training base for vocational education of Shenzhen. It is able to provide CMA and CNAS certification and offer review and testing services in six fields such as air and exhaust, noise and vibration, water and wastewater, soil and sediment, and agricultural environment, supporting scientific research, social services, and curriculum construction.

It has undertaken 18 scientific research programs of the National Natural Science Foundation and the National Social Science Fund, 14 provincial projects, more than 30 municipal projects, and over 70 horizontal cooperation projects, obtained 11 national patents, and published more than 130 SCI/EI papers. In addition, it has two provincial, two municipal, and one district-level scientific platforms, as well as the Hoffman Institute of Advanced Materials and the Research Institute of Urban Ecology and Environmental Technology.

The School has established partnerships with key enterprises and government departments such as BGI, Kuang-Chi Institute of Advanced Technology, Tagen Group, Shenzhen Water Group, Shenzhen Baoan Drainage Co., Ltd., Shenzhen Architecture Design General Research Institute (SZAD), and Urban Planning & Design Institute of Shenzhen that will provide lots of employment opportunities for our students. Moreover, it has maintained a long-term cooperative relationship with relevant industrial associations.Our students have won more than 20 gold prizes and the first prizes in the “Challenge Cup” National Undergraduate Extracurricular Academic Science and Technology Works Competition, China College Students' 'Internet Plus' Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition, International Genetically Engineered Machine Competition (iGEM), National Vocational Students Skills Competition, and Guangdong Vocational College Skills Competition.The School has provided more than 3,000 qualified graduates for the industries such as material production, chemical testing and analysis, chemical engineering, environmental protection, and water affairs.
