Established in June 2018, Shenzhen Elderly Healthcare College is a new public institution approved by Shenzhen Municipal People's Government, organized by Shenzhen Polytechnic University, jointly built by Shenzhen Polytechnic Universityc and Bureau of Civil Affairs of Shenzhen Municipality, and registered in the Office of Government Set-up Committee of Shenzhen Municipality.

As China's first public institution co-built by a civil affairs department and a local university and dedicated to cultivating talents for elderly healthcare, Shenzhen Elderly Healthcare College undertakes the important mission of comprehensive reform in elderly services and TVET in Shenzhen. The College is committed to developing into a "talent cultivation base for elderly healthcare, an R&D center for elderly healthcare products, a consulting center for the elderly healthcare industry, and an international exchange center for the elderly healthcare industry" based in Shenzhen and facing the whole country. It has integrated talent training, service display, product R&D, and policy consultation, and formed a "Shenzhen model" for elderly healthcare services. Ultimately, it aims to become a world-class elderly healthcare college with Chinese characteristics.

In terms of talent cultivation, Shenzhen Elderly Healthcare College has fully innovated its system and mechanism and set up the "Smart Elderly Healthcare Service and Management Major" in the Medical and Nursing School, enrolling 80 students every year. The College works with the supportive Bureau of Civil Affairs of Shenzhen Municipality and major healthcare enterprises in Shenzhen to cultivate professional talents in elderly healthcare, deepen industry-education integration and university-enterprise cooperation, and actively explore the talent cultivation model that brings the university and factories together. In the meantime, the College provides training for teaching staff of elderly healthcare service and management, elderly caregivers, and family caregivers, building a "talent cultivation base for elderly healthcare" in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.

In terms of policy consultation, the College actively provides policy advice for government departments at all levels, and industry and brand planning advice for elderly healthcare enterprises and industry organizations, further standardizing the elderly healthcare industry. The College has participated in the pre-legislative evaluation ofRegulations of Shenzhen Special Economic Zone on Elderly Care Servicesby Shenzhen Municipal People's Congress, and the policy development ofStudy on the Current Development and Countermeasures of Elderly Healthcare Service Industry in Shenzhenby the Development and Reform Commission of Shenzhen Municipality,Study on Long-term Care Insurance Policies in Shenzhenby Healthcare Security Bureau of Shenzhen Municipality, andStudy on Professionalization and Specialization of Elderly Healthcare Service Certificationby the Bureau of Civil Affairs of Shenzhen Municipality.

In terms of international exchange, the College promotes the import and export of elderly healthcare elements around the Belt and Road Initiative. It cooperates with F+U Sachsen gGmbH on the training program for Chinese elderly caregivers (funded by the German Ministry of Economic Cooperation), exchanges with Canada and the Netherlands on elderly healthcare services to access international resources, and holds advanced training courses for senior teachers of elderly-related professions nationwide.

In the future, Shenzhen Elderly Healthcare College will remain true to its original aspirations and give full play to the advantages of the Shenzhen Pilot Demonstration Zone. The College will develop elderly healthcare services and products, explore a diversified talent cultivation model, cultivate considerate, professional elderly healthcare talents, and build a "Republic of China Military Academy" for these talents.
