The School of Vocational and Technical Education was renamed and reestablished in May 2021 on the basis of the former School of Humanities to implement the important instruction of Sun Chunlan, Vice Premier of the State Council, on the development of technical norm education in Shenzhen Polytechnic University, and is dedicated to exploring the innovation of technical teacher education in the new era, which will rapidly develop into an example of "excellent" vocational teacher training in China.
The school has three specialties: preschool education, cultural creativity and planning, and music performance. It relies on the teaching and research office of humanistic quality and music literacy education to build an example of humanistic and aesthetic education for higher vocational education in China, and is to probe into the technical teacher education with multi-disciplinary backgrounds.
The school has 56 faculty members, including 45 full-time teachers, 3 local high-level talents, 1 leading specialized talent, 22 teachers with senior titles, 15 teachers with doctoral degrees, and 11 overseas returnees. The school owns 3 high-level teaching and scientific research platforms such as Shenzhen Literature Research Center, publishes more than 30 academic monographs and hundreds of academic papers in core journals, and undertakes more than 50 projects at the national level, provincial and ministerial level, and municipal and department level.
The school always focuses on students' growth and adheres closely to the frontier of the development of vocational norm education to explore the practical teaching and training mode. By implementing layered teaching, it improves students' specialized and general quality simultaneously, with a high-quality employment rate of over 95 percent and a leading starting salary for the initial employment. Students won numerous awards at national, provincial and municipal competitions such as the “Challenge Cup” National College Students' Extracurricular Academic Science and Technology Contest, National College Students' Art Skills Contest, Guangdong College Student Arts Exhibition and Performance, Guangdong College Student Dance Contest.
The school has established harmonious cooperation with enterprises and public institutions like Shenzhen Concert Hall, Shenzhen Poly Theatre, Overseas Chinese Town Holdings Company, Shenzhen Museum, Tencent, and Fantawild Holdings Inc. The school continues to deepen the integration of industry and education, providing students with diverse practice platforms. It boasts 12 high-level practical teaching platforms such as municipal off-campus public training base, preschool education training workshop, digital music training workshop, cultural creativity training workshop, and digital piano training workshop, with equipment assets valued at nearly RMB 10 million.
